Can't clean an exhaust converter. If it is 12 years old it has to go

  • Anonymous Dec 04, 2012

Try another shop that has been there with same owner for 25 years

  • Dormonque Fields Dec 04, 2012

my car also has four conveters do i get all changed or just the two big converters

  • Anonymous Dec 04, 2012

Only 2 converters & maybe two resonators. The converters have to fail a test & then you replace both What kind of a lame shop are you going to?

  • Dormonque Fields Dec 04, 2012

was a shop in rock hill sc he said they were clogged he took a screw driver and hammer and beat on something and said that should of done the job but did'nt

  • Anonymous Dec 04, 2012

That is a butcher not a mechanic To loosen the inside honey comb may block exhaust flow even more & you won't have injector control or pass inspection. Change both converters & get a different shop. I know your in NC but they have to have some knowlegable folfs there my nieces husband has his own place & 10 years at a ford dealer before

SOURCE: car want crank over

This is Caused by the Fuel Pump. If you remove the Fuel Pump relay and it will try to Crank, You have a Bad Fuel Pump. I do Believe that the Fuel Pump is located inside the Fuel Tank on the Sunfire. Not an easy Repair But, Necessary

SOURCE: 1992 Chrysler LeBaron 3.0 L.

the owner probably rerouted the fuel line because like my 92 chrysler lebaron v6 3.0 the fuel lines keep seeming to come off and the clamps always break. I have replaced the clamps 5 times in a month and replaced filters 2 times in 2 months. The only thing i could think of is that your fuel is being cut off possibly because there is no filter to clean all the junk out. Try putting a fuel filter on and see if that will work

SOURCE: Car dies at random moments

I just had this problem and replaced the camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, and coolant temp sensor. i replaced these items because of high mileage. try these but first check your relays located under the hood on the passenger side. sometimes they get hot and fail.

This could be a bad connection at the crankshaft sensor. Check your TPS switch too.

Mercury grand marquis wont stay cranked

Someone will need to check for spark to the plugs and fuel pressure when it fails to start. Could be a relay or several other components.

I have misplaced my owners manual for my 2008 Mercury Marquis. I don"t know when to have car serviced

Hello fellow Grand Marquis owner...

Here is Ford's webpage for the 2008 Maquis manual, scheduled maintenance, and other owner information:

Click on that link (or cut and paste it into your web browser's address bar) and click on the 'Scheduled Maintenance Guide' . This will open a .pdf file for you.

You have a very nice car, I hope that you enjoy it for years to come.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

99 Grand Marquis Fuel Pump problem

Lets try a new keyswitch and a fuel filter. The key activates the starter side of the ignition. This terminal should power both the starter solenoid and the fuel pump. Although the fuelpump runs on the ignition side continuously, you should be primed when the key is in the "on" position. I would wonder if the pump is cutting off too early meeting the resistance of a dirty fuel filter.
