SOURCE: INSTALLED TRANS 700R4 RAN GOOD

well, to me 2 things may happened, your manual valve in the valve body is detached or... your boost valve pop out, this is part of your pump, ider way remove your trans pan and check for either one in it, or a clip tnat holds manual valve, if your boost valve come apart you need some one that knows how to put it togheter or a manual for specific trans.
good luck

Either brakes stick or trans is not down shifting when i come to a stop there is a noise and thud when i release the brakes and push the accelerater it seems to shift fine while driving

COMPLETELY SAFE: put up on lift or raise off ground with stands with enough room to get under then have someone do the gear shifting going to speed that causes the thud ,let driver(person in car)tell you when brakes are applied so you're ready then see where noise comes from;could be transmission?????

06 pontiac grand prix shifting hard off a dead stop

If all gears are shifting hard, may have a code p1811 set-trans adapt long shift. When this code sets it commands full line pressure causing hard shifts. Usually the pressure control solenoid is at fault. You need to have it scanned for codes.

Transmission shifts hard

I would stop using it immediately

Any trans issues, is like you having a heart attack

You drive 5 miles one time & you could be out
$3000.00 ,in a heart beat

Assuming the Tach doesn't flair, indicating slipping,
you diagnose any driveability issues with the engine ,
that effect shift strategy, then move on to the transaxle
diagnoses

If it slips already your done,it has to come out

have the ecm and transmission computer scanned for codes. next check the trans. fluid level and color. if the fluid is dark brown to black and or smells burn't time for the trans. shop to look at it. hope i was able to help.

99 Chevy Venture Slams when shifting

If the van shifts ok when cold but hard when hot then the pressure control valve in the trans is bad. When the fluid temp climbs past a certain point the PCS sensor shorts out and stops controlling fluid pressure. This usually causes a whine from the trans (pump) and hard shifting. This is because the PCS can no longer control the pump pressure so the pump now runs at full pressure and shifts as if you were using full thottle all the time - the opposite of what your doing, which is to feather the throttle trying to ease the shift. So now the trans calls for a full pressure shift when your using part throttle and it slams. The (PCS) part is cheap enough but the trans has to be removed to replace it and that's not cheap.

Give this a shot, it often works and it's cheap enough to try.

First, have a good mech carefully check the rediator trans cooler section to be sure there's no leakage of coolant from the enging to the trans coller section of the radiato. This is important!, if antifreeze is leaking into the trans fluid via the cooler it'll cause problems that are otherwise impossible to diagnose and eventually complete trans/torque converter failure.

If there's no radiator problem then power flush the trans and change the filter, then install an aftermarket trans cooler in series with the built in cooler (the instructions with the cooler detail this). It's about $60 for the cooler and maybe one hour to install it.

This whole process will drop the trans fluid temperature 40-50 degrees and often that's enough to get back into a temperature range that will allow the PCS to work reliably again.

If it doesn't work your not out much, if it does work you'll probably get another couple of years out of it.

Trans shifts very hard after 5 minutes of stop and go traffic

A reason for hard shifting could be a problem with many things with various degrees of seriousness. It could be your ATF( automatic transmission fluid) is low or broken down and old. This would cause the hardness and the reason for stop and go traffic effecting it. Another possibility is your transmission is just shot, and the timing gears inside are worn and not properly shifting at the correct RPM causing a **** during shifting.

Some possibilties, not all!
