Question about 1993 Ford F150 SuperCab

1 Answer

1993 Ford f-150 4 Wheel Drive does not engage.

When I push the button the lights go out on the switch panel and the headlights on the truck dim and the amp hand falls back like it is trying to engage but it never does. When it did this the first time we had just taken it out of 4 wheel drive and it went in and out just like usual. What could be causing this?

Usualy the electric motor will stick and the lights "go out" when you try to use it, The electric motors have this problem in every 4x4 electric I have worked on.
First, you can remove the motor and test it, sometimes they start working again although if it does, I suggest replacement. And always use reverse to unlock your 4x4 . It is usually the 1 thing ppl dont do when I hear that it became stuck.

1993 f-150 headlight switch removal? Take dash apart or is there a better way? No access to the switch from under dash.

the pull switch for the hed lights snaps in place, if you pull out to turn the lights on and turn the knob as to dim the lights you'll see a notch in the knob. with a small screw driver or pick tool you can lift a metal tab and remove the knob, then remove to two trim pieces left and right of the steering wheel and there will be two 1/4 in nut drive screws, remove those and the gage cluster dash trim can be pulled right off exposing the head light switch

1996 Ford F150 4X4 won't shift into low range

I am not sure about Ford, but several of the 4x4 models use a vacuum hose connected to engine vaccum to switch the 4x4 functions. If you have a push button engage system then you may want to check the rubber hoses around the front drive shaft. This only applies for the push button models.

06 F150 4 four wheel drive wont work

I have a 1994 ford f150, my 4 wheel drive keeps trying to engage by itself even without me touching the automatic hub button....at time you can even hear it engaging and disengaging by itself, the low range light even comes on (dimly)...what could be the cause? the transfer case motor looks good and so does the wiring.

4x4 doesn't engage

that box does engage the transfercase to 4x4,there is a small electric motor on the transfercase thats probably bad,try hitting it lightly with a hammer because just like an electric window motor it has brushes in it as well, but its possible that motor is shorting out causing it to draw alot from the charging system,at least my 1993 Ford Bronco did the same thing and thats what i replaced and now it works fine.

My 2004 F-150 Ford Truck will not engage into 4 wheel drive low.

I am going to ask a dumb question....do you have it in neutral and the brake mashed when you switch to 4WD LOW? I believe that is what my book says to do.
