Loud rattle sound when Idling

I suggest you have your car checked as soon as possible - while a rattling exhaust isn't desperately urgent it could be the cat breaking up which might later restrict the flow of gases. Most importantly excessively loose timing belts or chains tend to make most noise when the engine is idling. If the noise is being caused by this delay could be very expensive.

I have a 2002 Mazda Protege5 that now has a loud, continuous metallic 'rattle' coming from the top, front of the engine. How can I locate the problem and how can I fix it?

code p0660 refers to intake manifold tuning valve , bank 1 --circuit open===causes --wiring---intake tuning valve

code p0302 refers to cylinder 2 --misfire detected ===causes --engine mechanical fault--wiring ignition /fuel system---injector---ECT/MAF sensor---ECM
form you description I suggest that you have a compression test done and check for a loose valve seat insert for no 2 cylinder
That would account for the rattle and loss of power and misfire for that cylinder

I hear a loud rattle in engine bay,battery seems to lose charge,but power seems to be there

Take off the serpentine belt and start the engine, if the noise goes away then check the alternator, the bearings could be goin out. To fully answer your problem I would need more detials about whats going on.

My car reves very loud when I put it in park

The rattle is probably an exhaust pipe rattling on the axle or a heat-shield ready to fall off. Remove shield completely or put a hanger to take exhaust off of the rear axle.

The rev increase is probably the throttle positioning sensor or the Speed Sensor.
Prior to replacing you should check the wiring carefully for frays and breaks near the ECM (Computer) or a vacuum leak on the engine somewhere.

If your ECM is behind the passenger headlight at the bottom then it is exposed to the weather and the brackets holding the ECM get loose or it moves around and frays the wires in this location leading to the ECM or the connectors to the ECM get corroded.  Carefully inspect these and replace that part of the harness - One may even get a long harness piece and move the ECM to the top of the Engine out of the weather elements.
Hope this helps.

I want to put a 92 izuzu 3 1 diesel motor onto a 1992 mitsubishi pejero and hook up to the 5 speed gearbox is this possable"

Yes but alot of work. I have to ask if what you have now is a gasoline or diesel engine? I ask this because of the final drive ratios; where as a gasoline engine will run @ 2500-3500 at 60MPH a diesel engine will only run @ 1500RPm or so. Given this you may have to change out the gearing for proper RPM
