Flashing low coolant light

The low coolant light keeps flashing but both the radiator and the resivour are full and the car is not overheating. What would cause this and where is it located?

    my low coolant light stays on when i drive the vehicle every thing is cool an it still stays on.

    I recently had an oil change on my buick regal 1988. I gave a guy a jump and now the low coolant light come on. How do I fix this problem?

There is a coolent sensor at the top of the radiator replace that sensor that will fix the problem.

Why is the low coolant light flashing?


The low coolant light is operated by a level sensor located in the coolant reservoir itself. If the low coolant light is on and the coolant level is full then wither the sensor is unplugged or the sensor is bad.

REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF COOLANT LOW, ADD MORE COOLANT THROUGH COOLANT OVERFLOW UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL IN THE COOLANT OVERFLOW STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.REASON POUR COOLANT THROUGH COOLANT OVERFLOW MOST GM CARS DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP.WHEN YOU GET COOLANT LEVEL OKAY, CRANK CAR LET IT IDLE UNTIL ENGINE GET HOT BUILD UP PRESSURE THEN TURN OFF CAR.CHECK FOR COOLANTS LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR HOSES,CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR, CHECK FOR LEAKS AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IF YOU SEE COOLANT LEAKING FROM WEEP HOLE REPLACE WATER PUMP. IF CAR OVERHEATING WHILE IDLING YOUR COOLING FANS NOT WORKING CHECK COOLING FANS FUSE AND RELAYS.IF FUSE AND RELAYS OKAY THE ENGINECOOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR BAD.

CAR OVERHEATING FIRST CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT IN THE RADIATOR COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG.IF COOLANT LEVEL IN OVERFLOW JUG LOW REFILL ADD COOLANT BACK TO THE FULL COLD MARK.PUT RADAITOR CAP ON COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG START ENGINE LET IT IDLE UNTIL IT OPERATING TEMPERATURE.MAKE SURE TOP RADIATOR HOSE GETTING HOT WHILE ENGINE WARM UP.IF TOP RADIATOR HOSE DONT GET HOT WHILE ENGINE IDLING YOUR THERMOSTAT COULD BE STUCK CLOSE CAUSING CAR TO OVERHEAT.IF TOP HOSE IS GETTING HOT.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS CHECK TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE FOR LEAKS.CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR CORES AND PLASTIC SIDE CONTAINERS.IF ALL IS GOOD ENGINE OVERHEATING WHILE IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE, COOLANT FANS NOT COMING ON.COULD HAVE FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR BLOWN COOLING FAN FUSE OR RELAY.COULD HAVE PCM FAULT.MAKE COOLING FAN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS AND WIRING NOT DAMAGE OR BROKEN.

Change the low coolant sensor. It is located on the radiator. It might be a good idea to get the radiator flushed too.

Coolant Light is on even when its to the full line, not overheating but i am loosing coolant overnight and have to replace it


You say "when it's to the full line". If you are referring to the plastic coolant reservoir, that is not an indication of how much coolant is in the radiator. You must remove the radiator cap to check the coolant level and too add coolant. If you are pouring coolant into the reservoir, and the radiator is low, then the coolant in the reservoir is probably being pulled into the radiator after you have driven the vehicle. That doesn't mean you are losing antifreeze. It just means you need to put antifreeze in the radiator.

Is the check or service engine light on? If so thermostat could be bad if not the sensor could be bad in the coolant resivour

97 saturn sl2 temp light flashing and low coolant light flashing what could be the problem ? coolant is full and the heat works.


If the temp gauge is reading normal, the lights are flashing, and the coolant level is full, the level sensor in the coolant bottle is the problem. I'm a service consultant for a Saturn dealer and I've run across this many times.
