My guess would be that either your wiper relay contact is stuck on the close position or your wiper switch is stuck on the on position.

Why is it my 2008 chevy uplander rear wiper motor/blade moves some and stops. I let van set 5-10 minutes with key off. Turn on key. Wiper motor/blade moves a few degrees and then stops again. Why?

WDA/Z88 The rear wiper is controlled based on an input from the rear wiper/washer portion of the multifunction switch. When closed, the wiper ON and wiper DELAY switches provide a unique voltage signal to the rear window wiper motor indicating the desired speed. Each switch has a unique resistor that drops the voltage to a specified value which is interpreted by the rear window wiper motor as ON or DELAY. The rear wiper motor receives B+ voltage from the I/P fuse block and accessory voltage from the body control module (BCM).
W49 The rear wiper is controlled based on an input from the rear wiper/washer switch. When closed, the wiper ON switch provides a voltage signal to the rear window wiper motor indicating rear wiper operation is requested.   1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the multifunction switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 4 and ground.

    If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, refer to Power Mode Mismatch.

  4. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the multifunction switch. Disconnect the harness connector at the rear window wiper motor.
  5. Test for less than 20 ohms between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.

1993 corvette wipers will come on by the wiper switch but must be turned off by ignition switch


Since the ignition switch has to kill the power to the wipers. Replace the wiper switch. Carbon build up inside the switch is why it won't turn off. You could take the wiper switch apart and clean up the tabs with sandpaper. Beware of springs though..

Wipers stop in the middle of my wishield,will not park properly

Wiper/Washer System Components
The Wiper / Washer System consists of the following components:
• Windshield wiper / washer switch
• Windshield wiper system module / motor
• Windshield washer fluid pump
• Windshield washer fluid level switch
• WPR 25A fuse
Wiper / Washer System Operation
The windshield wiper motor module is part of the windshield wiper motor cover and controls the wiper motor operation. The windshield wiper motor is a 2 speed motor. Windshield wiper DELAY operation is a low speed wiper motor function with a variable delay interval between the wipe cycles. The DELAY interval is controlled through a series of resistors within the wiper / washer switch.
Park Position Operation
When the windshield wiper / washer switch is turned to the OFF position while the wiper motor is somewhere in mid-cycle, the wiper motor module will continue to operate the wiper motor until the wipers reach the park position. If the ignition is turned off while the wipers are in mid-cycle, the wipers will stop immediately where they are. The wipers will park the next time the ignition is cycled to the ON position.

92 olds 88 blows wiper fuse with switch off and ignition is turned on . Switch is new.


It is getting power from somewhere. Obviously the correct wires havent all been disconnected. Sometimes they are mislabeled.

Locate fuse


That sounds like your ignition switch is bad. It should not only shut the engine off when ignition is turned to off, but when on, the ignition switch should also power up the circuits for the windows, wipers, and dash lights. Replace the ignition switch and it should all work right again.

How To Install Replace Windshield Wiper motor on a Honda Odyssey


Put the right side wiper on only. Turn on wipers. When the wiper moves all the way to the left and starts to go back to the right turn off the ignition with the wiper switch still on. Remove the right wiper arm and install the left wiper arm in the far left of the wiper movement. Turn on ignition and allow the left wiper to go all the way back to it's rest location at the bottom of the windshield. Turn off ignition and install the right side wiper arm. This will give you a start to properly set the wiper arms.

EF Ford Fairmont 1996, accessories stop when ignition switched to start


Eg wipers work while ignition switched to 'accessories' but stop when key turned to 'start'

I had this issue and took me ages and ages of wire tracing and probing. Your fuse box should have the wiper/windows accessories fuses. If you probe them and they aren't showing voltage, check wiring harness, check wiper motor voltage. My ignition barrel was the fault of all this, everything worked when switched to "accessories", but while the engine was running, the accessories turned off. The bottom of the ignition barrel pushed out, as the factory stopper groove bent out. All I did was cold chisel a dent back into the case. BAM fixed my windows/starting/wipers all in one go.
