Trouble starting and idling. Checked battery, glo plugs and fuel filter all OK. What could problem be as diagnostic test didmn't bring up anything.

Clean your injectors and there could be a relay going out.

SOURCE: My 96 Suburban will not start.

If you have a 1996 Suburban that will not start. The first place I would start is take the screws out from the cover under the ignition switch and replace the box with all the wires. That box when bad will cause all kinds of things to happen...Truck not to start. Shifts darn hard from 1st to 2nd gear. Wipers to not work at time or the wipers stop and go. You will not get the impulses to even register on a tester. After hooking up to a computer I could not get anything to register on the tester/computer as I was turning over the motor with the ignition switch...Next I decided to turn over the motor with the ignition switch and wacked the bottom of the stiring column and the puter screen cam to life....Replaced the box and never had a problum in 4 years and my truck transmision dont slam gears any more.

You may have a bad idle control valve. If you want to replace fuel pump yourself you will have to remove bed of truck or fuel tank.

I have 2005 Kia Sportage with a check engine light. No other symptoms. I was told by Kia and Local mechanic that it is the fuel injectors. Error Code states that Fuel injectors are running lean. Put Master airflow- no change. Ran engine test with propane to run rich and trim never changed from 15. Car runs great. Kia dealer said that this is because we use Ethel in gas that it effects the alumium fuel rail delivery to the injectors and that it is necessary to change all of them .Kia Dealer wants $1,000.00 deposit to place order 6 fuel injectors from Kia. (Has anyone heard of that?)Also put fuel injector cleaner in tank.Does anyone have any suggestions before I spend over $1,000.00 to replace all 6 injectors or possible idea of what could be wrong?

Plugged catalytic converter > have exhaust back pressure tested . possibility , fuel system pressure & flow tested if cat not plugged . Have you ever changed fuel filter . Is your check engine light lit ? have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes checked .

2001 Ford 350 7.3 diesel. Turns over but will not start. Wait to start light will not come on. Checked fuses under hood. Had the 20A pcm fuse was blown. Replaced fuse and tried again. Wait to start light...


i
Inside of the fuel filter housing is a heating element, a fuel warmer. It is common for this element to break the spot welds of it's mounting plate and ground out against the housing, hence it blowing the fuse every time you try and warm up the glow-plugs. Take the top off of the fuel filter housing and remove the filter, then look into the bottom of the housing and see if the heater is touching the walls of the housing. If this is the problem you should be able to unplug the fuel heater and have the engine start until you get the heater replaced.

My 2003 eclipse will idle fine but when put in reverse or drive it wants to die.


You should first get the engine scanned for trouble codes.
Try a new fuel filter, or have the fuel pressure tested. If fuel pressure is good, try some injector cleaner. If still no help, time for a tune-up with new plugs and wires, filters, pcv valve. If still no help, possibly the catalytic converter may be plugging up, or your egr valve needs cleaning. Could be a lot of things-you just have to start eliminating one by one. short of a shop running diagnostics and testing to find the problem. Good luck.

  • P0340 - Camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction.
  • P0457 - Evaporative emission control system leak detected (fuel filler cap loose/off)

    There is a bulletin #0398 posted on 05/12/2003 for P0457 - Malfunction indicator lamp (mil) illumination with diagnostic trouble codes p0442, p0455, p0456, p0457, p1442 or check fuel cap lamp illuminated with diagnostic trouble code p0457.

I'd suggest checking with your local dealer, as it may be a fix that is covered by the dealer.

Most auto parts stores offer free Alternator testing takes 5 mins. if the Alternator is good and will hold a charge,then your problem sounds as if it is a spark plug/ fuel mixture issue,,check plugs and plug wires.

Fuel or ignition problem? Right after it dies, check for spark at a plug. A bad coil will often work till it's warmed up, then fail. If you still have ignition spark after it dies, or if it starts right up again, then it's something else.
Check the fuel pressure to make sure it's at proper pressure. Also scan the computer for any trouble codes that are related. It's easy on your car if you understand how the flashing light translates to two-digit number codes. Use a wire or paperclip to bridge terminals A and B of the diagnostic test connector protruding out from bottom of dash. It's a 12 pin connector. A and B are the two upper right terminals on it. Now turn key on and the check engine light will begin blinking the codes. Code 12 is diagnostic mode-one blink, pause, pause,blink, pause blink. See? 22 would be blink, pause, blink, pause, pause, blink, pause, blink. See? 33 would be three blinks, short pause and then 3 rapid blinks. (I"m going blink crazy!) Well, get the codes-they are two digit codes, and will keep repeating, lower numbers first and in succession, over and over while in diagnostic mode. Maybe an idle sensor fault will show up.

When the engine is complete cold,please do an engine vacuum test.
Attach a small vacuum gauge at the brake booster vacuum hose and observe the reading as it warm up (5+ minutes)
Compare the needle movement to the picture below.
For a 2003,with 90,000 miles?????
Please post odometer reading on reply.
It will has intake manifold leak.
