Question about 2002 Nissan Xterra

Open Question

2002 Xterra defrost button stuck will not turn on

When I push the rear defrost button, it is stuck and won't go on, nor will it light up to indicate it is on. It's like someone took permabond to it. The aux 12 volt power in the arm console doesn't work in either of its 2 spots.

SOURCE: stuck on defrost

Check for vacuum lines under the hood that are loose, off, or cracked. With the engine running, wiggle them around and listen for a hissing sound.

SOURCE: xterra will not turn on.

Do you get any dash lights when you turn the key on? If not, you could just have a dead battery.

SOURCE: 2002 Xterra will crank but

Hi,

Well if the Battery is good, and you hear a whirring noise, it sounds like you may have a starter issue going on. The best way to verify it is to see if you can get someone to help you by turning the key to try to start it while you lay down on the passenger side of the truck and see if that clicking is coming from the starter. Also try to put a jump to it just in case the battery charge is low. You can tell this by turning the head lights on and trying to start the truck. The lights will go dim.

If you have any more questions on this, please feel free to ask.

Thanks and Regards

Possibly the plugs either aren't connected properly or incorrectly plugged. Recheck the plugs. Also check fuses, maybe one blew while it was being plugged. The work should have been done with the battery disconnected for that reason.

Rear defrost

There is usually a relay involved in the rear defogger circuit. I would check for power on the wire at the window connector with key on and defroster button on. If power there, the window grid may have a break. If no power, will have to work back in the wiring diagram.

It sounds like a burned out circuit on the ac compressor clutch while the car is NOT running grab the ac clutch assy on the front face of your ac compressor it should turn with very little drag if it is seized it wont turn at all causing your problem the wires short out and when you turn on ac you get nothing

I have a 2003 dodge neon..and the rear defroster doesn't work..it has a button for it..and it just shuts off and back windshield doesn't clear at all...even if I keep turning it back on it...

Yeah, I'd think it would have lines, too, unless some new way of doing it that I'm not aware of. Maybe the rear window was replaced with a window without the defrost option. There should be a small two wire connector coming out of the back shelf near lower driver's side of rear window. That would be the defrost connector to the window lines (that aren't there, lol).
Well, good luck with that! I think there are aftermarket kits for rear window defrost, though.

Abs and brake, battery lights won,t turn off .

I have the same van with similar problems. I had a small leak from the lower left corner of the windshield that dripped down into my fuse box when we had a heavy rain. My defrost light and dome lights got stuck on. We had to remove the fuses and let the box dry out. We had to take it to someone to find the leak and caulk the windshield. I don't know if this might help but you might look into this????? Good luck.
