check that the wire to the temp sender unit has not fallen off and is shorting out on the head/block. The power comes from the ignition switch through the gauge down to the sender unit and because the sender is a temperature controlled resistance unit the voltage is very low and so the gauge reads cold . as the temperature heats up , the resistance is decreased and so the voltage is increased though the gauge and the needle reads higher.. Hench if the gauge goes directly to hot on start up the wire is shorting out or the sender unit is faulty.
If the thermostat is bad (i.e. stuck open at all times), this would allow coolant to circulate in the engine even when it is below the desired operating temperature. This leads to OVERcooling of the engine. You can either replace the thermostat as a first step or remove it and test it -- closed when cold, open when heated above 190-200F.

Its fine, temp needle going up shows that engine is warming up and as soon as the radiator fan starts, temp of coolant drop and this is shown by the temp gauge needle. In most cars (even mine) it stays in middle most of the time unless you are in a traffic with AC on, it will show up more temp. What you can do is get the radiator flushed and coolant changed. Also check the water pump. To do so when engine is cold (in first start in morning), open the radiator cap and ask someone to rev the engine. If the coolant level moves up and down then water pump is also fine.
The overheating and lack of cabin heat both point to a failed engine thermostat which would be stuck closed. At the warm up stage, the coolant stays in the engine block to bring the engine to efficient operating temperature, then it opens and circulates the coolant through the radiator and heat core. If the thermostat is stuck closed, the engine will overheat, and coolant will never reach the heater core, and you will not get cabin heat.
Blinking oil light at idle which goes away during driving could be a low oil level, but may also be a drop in oil pressue. You could have a clogged oil fliter (at best) pickup tube, or a failing oil pump.
your radiator is blocked ,try putting some caustic in the rad and running enging for an hour then flushing it and try that ,if it works dont forget the antifreeze,put it in after you have cleared the fault

Let me try to put you in the right direction. Sometimes the gauges become magnetized because of variations in the quality of that gauge or some other anomaly. Try this. Before you start the engine and while it is cold, pull the temperature wire loose at the sending unit on the engine. See if this drops the needle to zero degrees. If it does - you will notice that even when the car is operating temperature the needle will still read zero. If you are sure the car isn't over heating - drive the car like this for a few trips to the store or to work and home. If you're not 100% sure the car is running fine be sure to stop and check that no water is escaping from the engine water hoses. Hook the wire back up and see if that doesn't demagnetize the unit. I would save my pennies and either replace the sending unit - gauge or both.

As long as your gauge is still moving up, there's no real problem. You have heat coming from the heater. It's only a problem if it's getting too hot. What's going on is that you don't let the vehicle run long enough, and it's so cold outside that the engine stays cold. It raises in temp when your stopped because there's no airflow through the radiator. The thermostat just heats up the engine block, and won't change the reading on the gauge. When this goes bad your car will overheat in just a few miles.
