Service engine soon light is always on

Always on,why is that?

Those thype of lights have been on all vehicles
for over 30 years as required by the govt in north
america at least,so how is it your not checking for codes
almost the same day you get a light on your dash

That is a MIL Lamp or Check Lamp indicating your car
has a possible faiure in one of it's many systems

You check for codes right away & diagnose, resolve or
repair within a week inless it isn't something that would
ruin your engine or trans etc.

The wording service soon is misleeding & nothing to
do with you getting some type of service at your convenience,
it is a serious problem untill you check for codes & at least
have some indication of the system effected

Relays click when interior fan is on

Often the click which can be heard when the A.C. kicks in is the clutch on the A.C. compressor. Be sure that it isn't just this sound which you are hearing.
Also check the operation of the idle control valve which is supposed to raise the engine revs to compensate for heavy power drain. If this isn't working correctly, then this would explain the lights dimming under low revs.

MY PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER 'S HEADLIGHT'S AND DASH LIGHTS WORK, BUT THE ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER. THERE IS NO SPARK COMING FROM THE ELECTRICAL WIRES.

When you say no spark, are you talking about the spark plugs, or just the general wiring?

If the engine won't turn over, then it isn't moving, and if it isn't moving then you need to check the following in this order:

1) Does the battery have power i.e. around 12.4 volts or over? No? Charge, test or replace battery.

2) Do the car's head lights dim considerably if turned on when attempting to crank? Yes? Possible lack of battery charge or faulty battery.

3) Assuming the battery is fine, can you turn the dash warning lights on and off with the key? No? Faulty ignition switch.

4) Is there a click sound when you turn the key, but no starter motor spin? Check starter motor connections or replace starter motor.

If none of the above prove to be of help, then please report.

Why is my van overheating

First check coolant level, cooling fan and fan relay is working properly, water pump is working fine, thermostat isn't stuck or engine temperature sensor isn't sending right signal.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

2004 Chevy Cavalier engine light and trac off light

One year ago---your check engine light came on
The PO405 code was for an EGR Valve issue
No mention--- if you had that fixed

A Few Days Ago---you get Trac Light on,that is part of
the ABS Braking System
Now that system has to be diagnosed & repaired, not just
continue to use the car, actually make the repair, before
you do some damage or can't stop the car & worse things happen

Changing Trans Fluid---is NOT a FIX for anything, but should
be done on all vehicles every 3 years.

If the Engine Management System isn't working correctly, then
your trans won't work as it should either

You need to be proactive & immediately have any abnormal
operation or check light problems, at least diagnosed in a few days
of noticing them

You need to stop using any car that isn't 100% & have it
repaired as soon as possible.

Not wait weeks or years.
Being 9 years old, the trans may also have it's own issues

I have a light on the dashboard do not know what it is? It looks like a screw of some sort that is going into something when you start your vehicle and all of the lights go on it is right beside the check...

The light you see on your dashboard next to the "check engine" light is telling you that you need to check your gas cap. This light will illuminate when the gas cap is not properly installed. If you unscrew the gas cap as though you were going to fill up your van; and then tightly screw it back on, but the light stays on, then the sensor that tells the computer that the gas cap isn't screwed on properly is at fault.

You can also refer to page 11 of your owner's guide that came with this vehicle.

I bought a 2004 PT Cruiser today at an auction. I was driving it home & reailzed that it wasn't shifting gears. I put it in 1st then to 3 to test it & it wouldn't shift. Whatever gear its...

First thing's first. Any time you see a low system voltage code you need to check for proper battery voltage and charging system operation. If the transmission controller isn't getting at least 12 volts, nothing in the transmission will operate properly.
If the alternator is working and no electrical problems are found, check all fuses and fusible links. Also, check for corrosion in the fuse box under the hood.
You will need an additional scan tool to read codes and data from the transmission controller. If you don't have access to one, it would be wise at this point to take the car in. Beyond this point it will be far more time-consuming and expensive to start guessing and throwing parts at the car.
The most likely culprate on the fluid pressure sensor code low system pressure caused by internal transmission wear or damage. A transmission problem is probably why the car went to auction in the first place.

I need the proper fuse letter/code for right rear light...2004 jeep cherokee

what type of light? turn signal, taillight,or brake light. if the right rear isn't working but the left rear is on the the brake light or the taillight then the problem isn't the fuse(the share the same fuse). may want to check the bulb socket on the right rear. the contacts get hot and melt the socket and the housing.

Engine runs good until i turn on the ac and come to a stop, after a few seconds my engine dies,if i turn off the ac car keeps running.was told it was compressor, changed it & the same, has new battery...

Compressor???!!! Good god! whatever you do don't follow that person's advice again! That had to be the most expensive money you have ever saved!

It sounds to me like you are probably having trouble with your Idle Air Control (IAC). It is supposed to give the engine idle speed a little boost when the A/C is turned on to help mak up for the extra load on the engine.
Is your check engine light on? Even if it isn't you may want to scan for codes anyway because some of the codes that are related to the ide control system will not turn the light on even though they are set in computer memory.

Your IAC can be tested with a scan tool to see if it is working properly. I would recommend doing a few tests before wasting any more money on expensive parts that do not fix your problem.
