This could be a magnetic or optical sensor. What it does is watches your Crankshaft for TDC (top dead center of the #1 piston) Then Ignition timing can occur because the ecu knows where the #1 piston so it can squirt fuel and ignite the spark. Also works in conjuction to your Camshaft sensor which allows the engine to breath. Note, without Air no combustion will occur in the engine, which gives you a no start condition.

In conclusion, If you find the CKP ( crankshaft sensor) and inspect its wiring. It could be scored since it is on the engine block and Also remove it and do a resistance test, to make sure it isnt broken internally.
If it is wiring Repair as needed
and if it is a faulty Sensor replace it and you should be good to go.

If you have a hard time starting it with out doing all the above, then try to crank the engine with the key for a few seconds, then stop, reverse the key and retry starting it. By this time the engine will have enough fuel vapor and heat that the top piston will ignite forcing the engine to start. Remember CKP only is used for ignition.

That is likely a bad crankshaft position sensor. That provides a signal from the crank sensor to the distributor/coil or coil pack and ignition module depending on which one you have.

The crank position sensor is located on the front of the engine, down by the oil filter housing. It's held in place by a single bolt, should be 10mm outer with at 5mm allen in the center of the bolt, so you can use either tool. It's got a harness about a foot long that clips into a bracket. There's a good chance this is your problem, it's difficult to test because it is an inductive sensor, it produces an AC signal when the engine turns. I'd recommend replacing the sensor, it's not too tough. I have heard however that aftermartket parts are less reliable, so it might be best to play it safe and go to the dealer or check out rockauto.com and buy a bosch sensor.
The hardest part is getting the old one out, remove the bolt and twist and pull the sensor out of the block. Lube the o-ring on the new sensor to get it to go in easier.

Well the 4 cyl engine uses a coil for each cylinder, and the 6 cyl uses one coil for all 6. Both systems use signals from the engine computer to fire the coils. So the RPM circuit would involve the engine computer. No distributor is used.

Under hood,passenger side mounted on the firewall,but ...
Could be something else ,crank sensor or cam,or ign.rotor ect.
The module like 3 hundred bucks.Try this ,turn the key
on-off-on-off-on( without out hitting the starter) the check
engine light should begin to flash.

P0320 - Ignition / distributor engine speed circuit malfunction

The ignition engine speed sensor input signal to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Module (ECM) is continuously monitored. The test fails when the signal indicates that 2 successive erratic profile ignition pickup (PIP) pulses occurred.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/Loss of Power
- The engine may be harder to start
- The engine may stumble or stall

When is the code detected?
The P0320 code is triggered when 2 successive erratic PIP pulses are detected.

Possible Causes:
- Loose wires/connectors
- Faulty Crank Position Sensors
- Arcing secondary ignition components (coil, wires and plugs)
- Low battery charge
- Powertrain Control Module

Possible Solutions:
- Resecure loose wire or connectors
- If battery charge is low, recharge or replaced battery
- Replaced crank position sensor
- Replaced starter motor
