Its possible that you need to try and turn the steering wheel left and right (IT WILL TAKE SOME EFFORT) while trying to turn the key. and you dont need to put pressure on the key , turn it same as you would when starting it normally. you dont want to break the key off.also try and put the gear shift lever up into park at the same time( thats asuming its a automatic with shift lever on the steering colum) somtimes you can get the car to close to a curb or somthing and having pressure on the tires in a less than straight position will get you locked in on the sterring wheel, shift lever and key lock possition . so with one hand pull the steering wheel left with as much pressure as you can and at same time trying to turn key with your right hand.

Need diagram for timming to set on 1998 2.2 4cyl

Hello Jm_green.

In 1998 the 2.2 Sunfire has no way to set ignition timing.
Timing is set by reading crankshaft position (not adjustable) and that signal is sent to the computer which in turn signals the ignition module when to fire the coils.

Just in case you are talking about changing the timing gears, here is a diagram.

There you are, thank you for using FixYa.

Anti theft

hi , not necessarily , did you replace the key and tumbler , or the ignition switch (electrical part) ? there is a password relearn procedure , attempt to start the vehicle , leave ignition on until THEFT SYSTEM indicator turns off , (approximetly 10 minutes) , turn ignition switch off , attempt to start vehicle , if vehicle starts , password has been learned ... if password does not relearn , i can post some diagnostic procedures .
