Question about 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee

How can I bypass my windshield washer from the turn signal knob

My 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee currently had the windshield wiper switch bypassed from the turn signal switch to a seperate switch added on the dash. It only works on high. But I know need to figure how to get the windshield washer motor to turn on. Is this an easy fix? or should I consider having a shop replace the turn signal knob so it works correctly?

Thanks for your help, the motor works for the wiper blades which the former owner setup so he didnt have to redo the turn signal swithes. So i was trying to think if I might be better off making a similar on off toggle switch next to the one he put in and connect the negitave and positive wires from the washer motor for an easy fix, thoughts?

If you rigged up a seprate switch and it stoped woring all together it sounds like you need to replace the motor and the turn signal switch isnt that hard to do by yourself if your looking for cheap good luck and i hoped i helped

i think it would be just as easy to replace the normal switch as it would be to go through and wire up a new one

I NEED INFO FOR THE SECURITY SYSTEM ON A 1993 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS ANY WAY TO DISABLE THE SECURITY SYSTEM ?

I'm posting for stock jeep parts, aftermarket NEVER. ever,
i dont agree. (dealer answer) !!! true in year 1999 not 1993./
the 1993 (hacked) fixed can be done too. but might take dealer intervention... sure.

all early systems can be bypassed. before about 1999
VTSS its called.
if you saw my first post to you,(on head lights)
you now have a full FSM book, and the page called.
Veh, theft and security system(vtss) chapter is there, to read.
and for sure if i owned this 93 it be killed dead, (i hear you on that)!

the VTSS does not stop the engine from starting, in 1993 (good)
so my guess is you have alarms , and are annoying.?
the system if working disarms if you unlock a front door or tail gate,(not using fob)
does that work? (it should)
or is it just door switches bad/.????
if you use google you will see a bypass method, (grounding near drivers door wire)

I have a 1998 jeep cherokee. The front wipers are not working. Can you plese help me solve this problem

Check the fuses first. If the fuse keeps blowing, it could be binding linkage. It could be the wiper switch. Make sure power is getting to the wiper motor.
Also there is a contact in the wiring of the wiper motor that parks the wiper blades even if you shut off the wiper switch mid cycle. If this contact is bad, the wipers won't work.

1988 jeep cherokee,6 cylinder my front windsheild wipers dont work.fuse is good.the wiper motor makes a noise when its turned on.is there a relay that could be faulty?wiper switch is the same as the turn...

No relay in the circuit.
There is a delay module but if it fails that usually causes the wipers to stop in the middle of travel or only run on high.
And the switch is working if you hear noise coming from the motor. The wiper switch is not the same switch as the turn signals but it is near that assembly.
I would say if you have power to the wiper motor the motor is probably dead or something happened to the linkage to the arms.

Windshield wipers stopped working on 1993 jeep cherokee

Did you plug them all back in? lol j/p

Do your blinkers and your back windshield wipers work? It's either electrical or mechanical. Turn them on and poke around to see if you hear the motor doing anything. If you hear it, it's probably a broken linkage. If not, start with the fuses and work from there.

It's possible that by unplugging the battery and then plugging it back it, the fuse for the wipers received an electrical surge, blowing it. Consult your manual to see where the fuse for your model is and check to see if it's blown.

Windshield Wiper System The windshield wiper system consists of :
  • Windshield wiper motor (17508) (F-type).
  • Washer system.
  • Windshield wiper control module.
  • Turn signal and windshield wiper switch (13K359).
The windshield wiper control module is:
  • Located at the instrument panel fuse panel.
The windshield wiper motor is:
  • Attached to the cowl top extension (021A36) .
  • Connected to windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (17566) .
The turn signal and windshield wiper switch features a:
  • Rotary wiper switch.
  • Push type washer actuator.
OFF/Low/High Speed
  • Has a two-speed, permanent magnet, three brush electric windshield wiper motor .
  • The windshield wiper motor has a brush rigging that permits selection of low or high speed.
  • When the turn signal and windshield wiper switch is in the LO position, the common brush and the blue/orange wire brush are used, and the windshield wiper motor operates at low speed.
  • When the turn signal and windshield wiper switch is in the HI position, the common brush and the white wire brush are used.
  • In HI position, electric current will bypass a portion of the armature winding causing the windshield wiper motor to operate faster.
  • When the turn signal and windshield wiper switch is moved to the OFF position, the windshield wiper motor will continue at low speed until the park switch outer contacts open.
  • When the park switch contacts open, the windshield wiper motor stops in the park position.
Interval
When the turn signal and windshield wiper switch is in the interval position:
  • The wipers make single wipes separated by pauses.
  • The rotary switch is on the end of turn signal and windshield wiper switch .
  • The length of the pause can be set from approximately 1 to 17 seconds.
  • Length of pause decreases as the rotary switch is rotated away from off.
  • Length of pause increases as the rotary switch is rotated toward off.
While in the interval wiper mode:
  • It is normal to hear a slight click at the beginning of each on/pause cycle. NOTE: When using interval wipers, the first wipe may not occur until after a pause of up to 17 seconds.

You have a motor for the front and rear washer. Check the fuses. If the intermitted wipers does not work, there is a relay under the dash near the steering colum that needs to be replaced.
