Will my key stop working?

-Dropped my key so hard that everything fell from the inside. -Managed to fix everything & it works fine when all buttons are pushed. Is there a chance where my key can stop working even if everything is in place??

I have a 98 blazer battery light came on and amp meter dropped I replaced the alternator work for a day and then did it again battery light on amp meter drop had battery checked and alternated check both...

With GM cars in general, I have found it is best to change the battery and alternator both out together. If one is weak it will take out the other in no time. These parts are both dirt cheap at a junkyard. Believe it or not, a junkyard delco alternator or battery is much better than a duro=last silver rebuilt in mexico.

You may also still have wiring problems remaining from the previous failure. GM dummy lights and gauges are notorious for being inaccurate, to the point that they hardly even function. At least rig up a volt meter that you can keep an eye on while driving, for a few days, to verify your alternator is actually outputting the right voltage.

THE A/C ON MY CRUISER WAS WORKING FINE AND THEN JUST STOPPED BLOWING COOL, WHAT COULD CAUSE THAT, THERE WAS NO GRADUAL WARMING JUST SUDDENLY

It is hard to find anyone in professional auto repair,
including dealers, that can fix much or do it properly

No one can guess at your a/c problems

Have to pick a shop & ask the right questions, to see if
you feel they can diagnose an a/c system

Engine starts and runs for a second and then stops

Sounds like a key code issue. Was the key dropped and fell apart? the car will most likely need to go to an agent to repair.

Transmition downshifts hard or will not shift at all for a period of time and the speedomiter will not work all of the time and cruse will not work. when speedomiter does work everything else works...

VSS --vehicle speed sensor

on the outside of the transaxle case
on top i believe

It may be corroded in there &
hard to get out

May be the only sensor with a wire connector

Any other wire harness goes inside to valve body

Problem with remote. Have changed batteries but

put everything back together that fell apart now open the hood and remove the red battery cable for about 20 minutes. Now reconnect the battery making sure its on solid now go stick the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position (dont start it) and let it set on like that for about 2 minutes. now turn it back off. Are any security warning lites on or blinking? if not give it a try now..i hope this worked. if the car will not start, you may have to take it to the dealer to get the theft deterent module reset. Can i get some good feedback if this worked? thanks.

Broken key car wont start

playerfoul3,
i had the same thing happen to me. you have a smart key and there is a chip inside the key that must be read by the security skin in your ignition your car will start three times and if the chip is not presented to the security skin transducer then it will lock your ignition out so the car will not start. Two options one if you have a spare key use that and try turning the ignition on and leave the car set for 3-4 hours this will generally clear the lock out. If that does not work then you will need to get a new key from the dealer and have them flash your car's PCM or get the new blank key and call an area lock smith and have them reprogram your key and reset your antitheft module on your car.
