The sticks? Some kind of voltage gauge?
Test the alternator with a voltmeter, make sure its output is good. If using the windows kills the engine, I think the alternator is weak or you maybe have a short in the power windows. But shuts off coming out of park, too? Does it not move, then?

Testimonial: "Yes the voltage gauge, n yes it does not move. Should I take the alternator out n check it at the local auto store or buy a voltmeter? I'm trying to spend the least amount of money"

Correction, I just changed the starter recently not the alternator

I think most stores have free alternator testing.

So I had the alternator and the battery checked, both are good. I don't know what to do now. I checked the fuses, at least the smaller ones. Do u think it can be something wrong with the connection to motorr and tranmission? Bc I can turn on the car in park but shuts off if I turn on the lights, hit the brakes and everything else I said before with the windows going up or changing to neutral to drive, it shuts off on all these occasions

Yes, it may be the connection you mentioned. I think you will have to get it to a shop for proper diagnosis. It still could be something simple, but I'm out of ideas, given a good alternator, you might want to purchase a cheap voltmeter and check its reading with the engine running-voltage should be at a minimum of 13 + volts. If under 13 volts, the alternator is not charging on the vehicle. If the alternator is working right on the vehicle, I would suspect a short in the wiring or a component failure. Good luck.

Yea I'm taking it to the same shop that swapped the engine bc I feel like they maybe didn't connect something correctly. I know the mechanic well but afraid that he might say that it wasn't his fault. I just hope he can fix it. You were a great deal of help, thanks a lot

I think you need a new alternator. Also check every fuse in depth. Make sure all the connections are in place and secure.

SOURCE: 1998 Toyota Sienna. Problem: Passenger side

Have you tried replacing the master window switch? Just because the other windows work doesnt mean that switch for that window is good.

The main switch is controled by the drivers door main unit.....i had to use a forward force on my windows switch for it to work....so replaced the whole unit, you could find those on ebay cheap if local auto parts is expensive

Yes you can, Although it is recommended that you replace the o-rings on the pipes where they join, You need specific equipment to re-gas the system but there are usually plenty of people who can do this at a reasonable cost.

Either remove the drivers side rear wheel and disconnect linkage or cut the cable from underneath (do this as a last resort... if you want to keep your emergency brake for future use, you'll have to replace the cable.)
