Vsc/traction and check engine light (orange lights) click on after about 5-10 sec turning on the car
This has happened in the past-went to few different mechanics where they scrolled through the computer and it said something about the exhaust? How ever-another time I was told was that it was a solenoid around the gas tank area. Parts were repalced about a year ago. I then had recent brake work done(new pads, rotors resurfaced, tires rotated. Thes lights di not come on immediately, but a few days after. It seems coincidental that it has occurred in the past following tire/brake work and it has been going on intermittently for two years. I have already put probably almost $1000 into this problem between them running the computer, parts and labor-I cannot believe this is an issue again and the part that is the greatest problem to me is that the vsc does not work, and the four wheel drive as well when these lights click on.
2007 Toyota Rav4 w/ 40k miles, vsc/traction and check engine lights just came on, no recent service. No mechanical problems noted at this time. Going to try disconnecting battery to see if it helps.
i have had the same problem, i recently took mine to a mechanic and he says its the abs pump or one of the individual abs pump sensors located on each of the tires, makes sense, cause I originally thought it might be my master cylinder with the noise I am hearing as well.

diagnostic reader and or workshop time required to
to fix both VSC and engine light faults /codes
VSC is brake /traction related ..... this is one explanation
It would appear that system braking, traction control, and possibly some anti rollover control is dis abled if this warning light is on. So it is both fuel in efficient and possibly dangerous to drive with this light on.
there are stored fault codes in the engine computer module pointing to faulty sensors on the car needing to be checked or replaced
Whenever the check engine light comes on it also turns on the trac and the vsc, if figures the trac and vsc can not operate properly if the engine is not running correctly, when check eng light turns off the rest will also, the first thing to do is have the computer scanned, there will be stored codes, these codes will tell you where the problem is, many auto part stores will scan it and give you the codes, if you get the codes i could help you further good luck.
The computer turns your traction control off when it sets the check engine light. Thats why VSC lights come on at the same time. Have the local parts store see what code you are getting to find the problem.
vsc shuts down any time check engine light comes on. repair engine light problem, reset computer monitoring system and vsc light will go off. must scan computer to pull codes for check engine light and go from there.
any time your check engine light comes on it will turn off the vsc. you need to have your codes pulled for your check engine light and repair that issue then the vsc off light will go out as well. you can stop at your local parts store"autozone" and they will be able to pull your code once you have your code i can assist you in the proper repair
I have the same problem on my 2001 4Runner. I have been told and also researched that it has something to do with the fuel pressure and making sure the gas cap is on tight enough. The solution I have used...with minimal success...is to disconnect the battery which resets the VSC/traction/check engine light. Sometimes I can go two months without it coming back on and sometimes it comes back on in one day.
I wish Toyota would do a recall on this because it is more annoying that mechanically troublesome.
