it just a basic tools. find the filter and see what size it is.
crawl under the truck on the driver's side, follow the fuel line from the fuel tank to the filter(shape:cylindrical).
make sure the line has no pressure. you should pull the fuse for the "fuel pump" relay, then start the engine and allow it to stall.

What wrenches are needed to change the fuel filter in a 1998 olds 88

If your going to work on your own vehicles, you need to get a basic set of wrenches and sockets, standard and metric sizes. On the threaded end of fuel filter, I don't know the actual size wrench? An adjustable wrench and pair of pliers or vice-grips would probably work. The right tool for the job is best.
The other end of filter may be a quick connect fitting, if it is what I'm thinking about, there are plastic ears that squeeze together to release.
Make sure no pressure on fuel system before taking any lines loose. Usually after it sits overnight w/o key being cycled, not much pressure, but, you still need to be aware of the possibility of pressure. Use a catch pan for gas that may run out of lines. Gasoline is flammable, safety is your responsibility.

the fuel filter is located under the car along the frame once found the inlet side has a plastic line and clip push line towards filter and then depress sides of clip and slowly pull off filter gas will leak out of filter and line then remove filter from mounting bracket and loosen the hex line with a flare wrench 16mm if OE filter the nut size on filter is 20mm some replacements are 19mm but you can hold this with a crescent wrench spin out and remove line reassembly start and run car and check for leaks.

How to change fuel filter on n1999volvo 2.4 turbo

They are slip on/off. You use an 17mm size box wrench and wedge it between the end of the hoses and the fuel filter and GENTLY pry the hoses off. After securing the new filter in place, push the hoses back on by HAND. Note the flow direction on the filter (there is an arrow on the body of the filter) before removing and make sure it is facing the same direction when re-installing.

Fuel filter

The new filter is cheap and a vary good idea to replace 5 or 6 years it will save the intank pump from working way to hard to pump fuel to the intake manifold injection system . Alot of fuel pumps go bad because the inline filter is restrected . The filter is located under the drivers door on the inside of the frame rail close to the floor board look for the fuel line that comes from the tank pump and the line that goes up to the engine compartment area so it will have a metal line on bolth sides of it that has a connecter . What you need is open end wrenches or flare nut wrenches just make sure they are the correct sizes . You need to lossen these connections . The filter has a welded nut on it the line has a compresstion fitting that is part of the line and smaller then the welded nut on the filter but will not slide off the line because the line is flared so it will seal againest the filter . I would recomend getting the new filter first note the arrow on it this is the derrection the fuel must flow from the tank to the engine the arrow points to the engine and you can also know what size the welded nuts on the filter are also you can see what you are looking for under the vehicle . The fuel line nut is likely 5/8 s but may be metric 14 or 15 mm . The problem is you will not have a lot of room to work the filter is mounted to the frame with a strap type fastener and can be removed but if you can lossen the fittings with out removeing this first it will be easyer . Wonce the fittings are lose you will need to lossen or remove this strap to slide the new filter in place . And be ready for gas to leak out you will get 6 or so ounces of fuel that will spill on you and the ground . I hope i didn't make sound hard to do .The hardest part is breaking the lines free so make sure you have the right size wrenches and the limited room to get at the fittings GOOD LUCK

What tools do i need to change a inline fuel filter

If it is a plastic type, with rubber hose connections, then just a pair of pliers to remove the squeeze clips.

Nowadays most EFI cars have a metal body fuel filter with a "banjo" connection at one end. For this you need a socket wrench or ring spanner the right size.

At the other end is probably a metal fuel line with a compression fitting nut on it, which may be very tight. Here you need a flare nut wrench, which is a ring spanner with a slot to allow it go around the fuel line. Using an open end spanner or adjustable spanner may round off the nut if it is tight.

I need instructions on how to replace the fuel filter on a 1982 Chevy Impala (V8 267 engine). Also need to locate the fuel filter.

the fuel filter is located in the carburetor.were the fuel line attaches to the carb this is were the filter is need a 7/8"wrench and a 1" wrench.put the 7/8" on the fitting of the fuel line and the 1" on the fitting on the carb.undo the line and move out of way then using the 1"wrench remove the fitting on the carb and the filter will come out with it.there is a spring that will push the filter out a bit.leave the spring in and install the new filter with the end of the filter that has no hole(solid end) into the carb and the end with the hole(rubber pulse dampner) facing the fuel in reverse order, start car check for fuel leak and your done.

Process for installing fuel filter

Hello Friend:

#1) Open Hood and Locate the Steel Fuel Line running to the carburetor.

#2) You'll need to use 2-Different Sized Wrenches to Break the Steel line with-Out twisting it.

#3) You'll see a Smaller Nut should be 1/2 -3/4 Inch.If you have recommend using a Flare wrench on that Nut.

#4) Then you'll need a Larger Wrench to Back up the Flare Wrench,Its a Brass Larger Nut Right on the Carb.Even a Cresent Wrench will work.On the big nut on Carb.

#5) Holding the Lager Wrench at the same position its in,don't let it Move, while Loosening the Nut on the Line.Remove the line away from the Larger Brass nut on Carb.

NOTE: Lossen your gas Cap to Relief any pressure in your Fuel Lines. Put some old Rags or something right under the Connection to catch the Fuel that will come out after the Line is broken

#6) now go ahead and Turning it counter clockwise take the Inlet Brass Nut on Off. After its Removed the Fuel Filter is inside a Cavity made just for the Fuel Filter.

#7) On the Brass Nut theres a Gasket besure not to loose or damage it you'll need it to seal the Fuel filter from any Leaks.

#8) Also the Fuel Filter is different on both ends.So watch carefuly how it comes out so you get it in the Direction of Fuel Flow the correct way.

#9) Sometimes People add a inline Filter as well some where in the Fuel line Coming out of the Carb. if there is I recommend you also change it.

To install your new Fuel Filter or Filters Simply Reverse the Procedure that you used to remove the Filter.

I hope this will help you Please let me Know by oting for the Quality of my solution. And a Testamony would be Appreciated.

Fuel filter

unbolt the filter from the bracket, that is a 5/16" machine screw head size, then remove the nylon clips that hold the lines onto the filter, hold a rag over the fuel line when u remove it, it will have about 30 pounds of pressure.
