Try flicking your key on and off (just key on, not start) about 10-15 times, then try starting it after that.
What this will do is start the fuel pump, and hopefully pump the diesel back into the injectors.

Is there a fuel pump reset on a 01 TDI jetta ? I ran out of diesel AMD now it won't start

When diesels run out of fuel they fill the lines with air. To get it to start you have to bleed the air out of the system starting at the fuel filter pump and any where else there is a bleed screw. IF you have or can get your hands on a owners manual or a work shop manual for your car then the process and location of bleeders will be explained.

Engine turns over will not start

I will fist need to know if engine just died, this happened over night it ran out of fuel? it it ran out of fuel you will need to prime the fuel system of air witch may include loosening the fuel injector lines and cranking engine over then when engine starts to fire tighten lines and continue to try until it starts it will run rough and smoke white and then it will clear and be back to normal. it can also be a bad lift/fuel pump or a cracked or broken line, bad injection pump many things just need more info message me if any more questions thanks and good luck

My 98 Jetta ran out of gas and now it won't start. Can i prime the fuel injection?

sorry buy your fuel pump has failed, when u run the car out of gas the fuel pump which is in the fuel tank severly overheats and seizes up, the pump is cooled completely by the fuel is sits in.
