Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Having a problem with my 2000 grand cherokee. Everything works with the ignition on; but when turned off almost nothing works except for dash lights. Head lights won't turn on with ignition off, no interior lights, and overhead console resets everytime off too. Books say relays in glove box or underhood. But not in glove box and ones under hood dont have all those things in common. Fuses in interior are fine. That is when I noticed relays above them. Took apart dash but no info anywhere on what these relays work or go to. Just at a loss with this one.

SOURCE: Change flasher relay on Jeep Grand Cherokee 2007

If you are looking for the old style flasher, it's not there. It's now called a combination flasher module (more $$) and usually it's on the right side of the column under dash. If you buy one first, at least you will know what it looks like.

SOURCE: Dashboard lights don't work

Make sure that when you check the fuses you use a test light applied to both sides of the fuse you are testing. It can be very difficult to see a fuse that is blown when the fuse is blown near the edges. PS the dash fuse is by itself and needs to be checked when the light switch is on.

I believe it's one of your relays too. There are a few relays under the glove box. If you can determine which one is clicking you can change it out and possibly solve your problem. Good luck...

Steering wheel locked and key will not turn 2000 jeep grand cherokee

First thing you need to try is wiggling the steering wheel back and worth while turning the key to try and unlock the steering column. If the key is worn out it may not turn well in the ignition. Another thing is to lubricate the ignition cylinder. If nothing works, it maybe the ignition cylinder tumbler is worn out and needs to be replaced.

I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, YOU HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF, GET OUT OF THE CAR, LOCK YOUR DOOR WITH THE KEY AND THEN UNLOCK IT. THAT IS ONE WAY , IF THAT DOESNT WORK PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AT THE SAME TIME TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND PRESS AND HOLD KILL SWITCH UNDER STEERING COLUMN, BEHIND FUSE BOX
