Question about 2003 Hummer H2

Open Question

03 H2 no crank and dead OBD2

Hello, i got an 03 200K mile H2. It died on the road and now it doesn't crank, i tried connecting OBD2 but it gets connection error. Battery recharged, cables good, starter cranks when jumped but no start. I jumped 87 and 30 on the starter relay, it cranked but no start, 85 gets positive when key in pos2 but 86 no change when key in pos3. Crank fuse powers up when key in pos3. Other issues that may or may not be related... Low Engine Power came on same day and it wouldn't clear. Usually it goes away. Rear locks of the truck stopped working a week before, bad relay, didn't get a new one yet. Pass key lock light about once a week, but it clears in 5 min.

Today 11-12-08 my 2003 H2 Hummer would not start. Checked battery it ischarged. Cables tight. Tried to start with portable booster pak. No go. Tridto jump start with my wife's Suburban. Still no go.
When I turn the switch I hear a single click and that is it. No engine turning over. While trying to start with key the headlights go out. Out of ideas, Will take to Chevy garage in am. Will post solution.

You fail to mention that you have done any engine control module fault code testing, borrow a code reader for the OBD2 engine control system and read the fault codes.

1994 Geo Metro will not start

all spark plugs dead. and at the main coil?
in this case after fuse (test them , ones that look good can be bad)
these steps work or all EFI cars made.
first is the rotor spinning cranking, if not the cam belt snapped!
a 1 second check, do you try to run 60k mile belts 200k ?

  1. CEL lamp on? key on? no crank? y/n,, if no the ECU is dead. or lamp burned out, we fix this FIRST. for next tests.
  2. I insert the diagnostic jumper clip (paper clip)
  3. the CEL now flashes codes, write them all down.
  4. I then crank for 5 seconds. and release the key.
  5. The ECU then reports live codes. beyond above stored codes.
  6. The ECU is very good at finding bad crank or cam sensors dead or even missing pulses, 1 in 10 lost. trust it, on all cars ......
  7. if no sensor code errors or spark bad errors then do the next things.
  8. The ecu also reads back the Tacho signal and will report dead tacho, sig, the ECU creates this and is the COIL drive signal to the ignition coil via the IGNITOR device.
  9. If the ignitor dies, or the coil primary opens, (dead Ign.coil) then the ECU see this and gives you Spark fail codes, cranking only!
  10. if you get far with a dead ignition coil, the ignitor is bad or the coil assuming coil even has power 12vcd key on.
this is all in the FSM, if you read it.
as is the Ignitior tests, and the coil tests.
The FSM is an amazing thing if your read it.
buy one.

ECU = engine brain, or EFI brain
EFI = eletronic fuel injection
CEL is the check engine light also called SES or MIL.
your ECU is OBD1 and no scan tool works .
only the winky blinky light.

1998 Chevrolet C3500 dies randomly when driving down the road - uphill, downhill or flat surfaces. Typically doesn't happen when it's cold. Sometimes it starts back up and sometimes it doesn't....

U have an intermittent electrical connection causing the hassle. Check and clean all wiring junctions, etc. Also work the connections by sliding them in and out many times to remove any oxidation. U have to remember that a car's electrical system is low voltage and the slightest bit of corrosion can screw things up - example is dirty battery terminal wires with a new battery. Car will not crank but clean the terminals and away you go!!!!!!!!!!!!

2005 eddie bauer expedition emission warning light came on during a trip and it started running rough at about 55-60 miles per hour. ran better at closer to 70. ideas?

Have you replaced the two piece spark plugs, that
will break apart when you try & remove them?

You only go 60,000 or so on a set of plugs

At 100,000 miles you replace the front 2 O2 Sensors

Clean MAF Sensor a couple times a year

You have OBD2 Check Lights on,so you should
have checked for codes before coming here.

I would guess you have a bad COP Ignition Coil,
possibly
You will get one a year from now on ,with all ford
products from 1998 on

70 MPH doesn't leave any room to save yourself ,should
things go wrong on the road or if your truck suddenly
shuts off & they do

My 2003 Ford Escape had a bad crank shaft sensor which, would cause it to stall out, mainly when the engine was hot. It often would not start after I turned off after a long drive. Once the engine was cool it would re-start. The replacement sensor was a bit differennt then the original. The original appeared to be mostly plastic, while the new one was metal. Ford must have know they had a problem part.
