Question about 2003 Kia Sorento

HELP! Interior lights (map and dome) dim but do not go out. Fuse removed.

The interior lights (passenger dome and front map) in my 2003 suddenly will not turn off all the way. They remain on, all the time at about 1/2 brightness. However, when the doors are opened or the switches toggled, they come on to full brightness as expected. The "off" swithch on the dome light only keeps it from coming on full with the door. I tried to disconnect the battery and discharge to wiring harness in an attempt to clear a computer error, but no luck, I had to finally remove the fuse to turn them off. Obviously, there is now no interior lighting except for the front door lights. BTW, the rear cargo light was not effected until the fuse was pulled. Thanks

I am unable to find any loose ground wiring. I have heard that the Body Control Module (BCM) controls the timing of the interior lights. After the doors are close, the lights fade off rather then simply turn off. It's like they are fading to off, but stop just short. Is it possible that the BCM needs a "flash"? Thanks

There is a short between the dome light and the door switches, this can be caused by something as simple as water damage. check all the wires and switches before you think it is the BCM.

Why my interior light want come on!!??

Check the dome light switch. I believe its between the map lights in the front overhead console. You can set it to Always Off, On with Doors, or Always On.

The Dome light and the cargo area light should come on when the door is open and the switch is set to door position, or when set to the always on position.

If only one of the lights come on change the bulb of that light. If neither light comes on change the fuse.

I believe the instrument panel fuse block is located on the passenger side of the center console, to the left of the glove box near the floor. The cover usual lists where and what each fuse does. Look for Interior Lighting, I believe #23. Pull the fuse and check if its broken. If it is replace it. If not you may have electrical issues.

BATTERY DRAINS WHEN ENGINE OFF. REMOVING DOME FUSE STOPS THIS.

Either the manual switch for the dome light is broken or one of the switches in one of the doors is broken.

The power window on the passenger side stopped working, why? could it be a fuse? or the motor?

Your passenger window motor is most likely the problem. It could be the switch. If you get into your car and key on engine off. Turn your interior lights on and try to operate the window....Look at the brightest interior light/dome lamp and see if it dims while you are trying to operate the switch....It may be hard to see but if it dims at all the motor is locked up and is pulling amperage from the battery. This is just a rule of thumb however it has never failed me as the motor pulling amperage is the only way that the lights will dim. if not it could be the switch. Hope this helps

Dome light

Might sound funny but check the rheostat knob that dims the interior lights, sounds like its set to always on. Check the dome light too, some have always on and on when door is open settings.
