I have a 99 jeep it started acting crazy and checked the oil the dip stick said it was bone dry so I put 3 quarts in it and checked the oil again and this time it was about 3 quarts to much

my guess is you used the wrong dip stick,
i cant watch you mess up. so....no jeep stated a 99 what?
wrangler, Cherokee or grand Cherokee?
so i bet you have an automatic trans, right?
then pulled the dip stick on trans thinking its the engine
or the reverse. bad news if true.
rigth?
find someone that knows the difference or read the lost operators guide.

and error 2, the stick empty is not bone dry, not ever.
yes real low. so and 1/2 quart at a time , not 3 qt ever.
until the engine stick is at normal..

if this is a transmission, and you put engine oil in there
all hope is lost. and the method is hot running, to add ATF fluids.
unlike the engine method.
my best guess totally BLIND>

Car starts and when you give it gas it wont go any where and the rpm hand goes up and still dont move

This sounds like transmission problems, some of these models do not have a transmission dip stick to check the transmission fluid level.
The first step is to see if this car has a dip stick to check the transmission fluid level. Low fluid will cause this problem also or if there is a leak and fluid leaks low after time until it gets to low and transmission wont move.
if this model does not have a dip stick for the transmission then you will need to take it to a tranny or repair shop and have them check it.

If you have a dip stick and the fluid is full then you may have internal transmission problems and again will need a shop to check it out. Make sure if the fluid is low and you are adding you will need to make sure you are using the correct fluid or damage will occur , the type is written on the stick, look closely and you will see the writing ,

I cannot find the transmission dipstick

TRANSMISSION DONT HAVE DIP STICK,YOU HAVE A CHECK PLUG LOCATED UNDER TRANSMISSION NEAR THE PAN ADJACENT TO THE ENGINE OIL DRAIN PLUG.CHECK PLUG IS A METRIC 11M OR 12M METRIC BOLT.TO CHECK FLUID CAR HAS TO BE LEVEL AND ENGINE RUNNING.WHEN YOU REMOVE CHECK PLUG, IF FLUID POUR OUT YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TRANSMISSION FLUID IN TRANSMISSION, IF FLUID SLOW DRIP YOU HAVE ENOUGH FLUID IN TRANSMISSION, IF NO FLUID DONT DRIP OUT WHEN CHECK PLUG REMOVED,ADD A PINT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AT A TIME.YOU POUR FLUID AT TOP OF TRANSMISSION UNDER THE HOOD,YOU WILL SEE A RED VENT FILL CAP, REMOVE CAP, YOU NEED A VERY LONG FUNNEL TO POUR TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION. IF YOU HAVE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING OR SLIPPING PROBLEMS,MOST TIME TRANSMISSION DUE FOR FILTER AND FLUID CHANGE IF YOU AT THE 60000 MILES TO 120000 MILES TIME FOR FLUID AND FILTER CHANGE.

Transmission warning light coming on,possible problems are low oil pressure or no oil pressure how do i check which one it is and fix it? Thankyou

If you have an Automatic transmission. Lift the hood. Locate the Transmission dip stick. Start the engine and let the engine warm up some. then check the fliud level on the dip stick. On a Manual Transmission, locate the transmission under the vehicle and the fill plug (upper) and drain plug (lower) on the transmission. Remove the fill plug (upper) and see if fluid runs out. If no fluid runs out, add recommeded transission fluid until the fluid starts running out, the replace fill plug..

TRANSMISSION DONT HAVE A DIP STICK.IT HAS A RED VENT FILL CAP ON TOP WHERE THE DIP STICK USE TO BE. AND TRANSMISSION HAS A CHECK PLUG NEAR THE OIL DRAIN PLUG.FOR THIS VECHICLE THE CAR HAS TO BE RAISED UP ON A CAR LIFT AND LEVEL POSITION. BEFORE FLUID CAN BE CHECKED.GM WARNED NOT SAFE TO LAY UNDER CAR TRY TO CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID.DEALERSHIP HAS TO CHECK FLUID FOR YOU.

How do I check the transmission fluid in my 2001 cadillac catera

There is no dipstick on the 01 Catera or any Catera for that matter (97 to 01) also same transmission used on 3 series BMWs.

I have 2 - 2001 Cateras....no....dip...stick.

It's a sealed transmission. There are fluid drain plugs, one at side of the tranny and one at the bottom. Jack the car up from the front on a level surface. Place a hose to a funnel and remove the top filler access plug (the side one). Insert the hose here and fill the funnel until fluid leaks out the side hole (make sure you have a catch pan). Then drop the car and let the excess fluid level out from the fill hole. Raise the car again and wipe away the excess fluid and re-install the filler plug.

I do not have a dip stick but i believe that my transmission fluid is low... I am not sure how to check and or change my fluid?

It has to be checked and pumped in from the uppermost plug in the bottom of transmission pan when hot and running.

Where to find transmision dip stick

there is no dipstick, you can access the transaxle by lifting the car up. It is located on the drivers side right by the wheel. Remove the bolt at the top of the pan, if the fluid dribbles out there is enough, if not you need to fill it.

I can't locate the transmission fluid dip stick for 2003 Grandam

Your transmission is sealed and has no dip stick, checking the fluid level properly involves using a factory scan tool.
