Question about Chevrolet Cavalier

2 Answers

My 93 cavalier would usually start and sometimes won't start. When it doesn't start it does not turn over it's pretty much dead, except it makes a little winning sound that stops after a second. The lights and engine lights stays on when turning key all the way. I have always been able to get it to start eventually except for today.

I am having the exact same problem, and I am trying to remove the started right now to test it. We know for sure it's not the battery... I just don't know how to remove the starter!!

Sounds like the started has been going bad for quite some time. Finally died. Replace starter. Have battery checked first.

My guess would be your starter. But I hate to say it you may need to get it to a shop and have them test it. You can also call Auto Zone if you have one in the area and see if they can test starters....if so it's free if you can get it there.

Key won't turn, won't shift from Park

My 2003 Saturn l200 2.2 ecotec did this when the battery was dead. Put some juice on the battery, then the car came out of park, and I was able to remove the key. To the car, there's a vast difference between a sluggish battery and a dead battery. It may have enough amps to crank it, but it wont start w/out full output from the battery.

93' toyota camry takes to long to warm up in the

Sounds like a dead spark plug or faulty wire, or even out of time. Start with changing plugs. No change, do the wires. No change check the timing belt. It may have jumped a cog. As for the slow to warm up part, the misfire won't help that problem, but you may need to change the thermostat if it doesn't improve once you get it running on all cylinders.

Car wont start, seems like battery went dead

If the car doesn't start with a jump you might have a bad alternator. The alternator supplies voltage to the car once the engine is running. If the battery is dead, and the alternator isn't putting out sufficient voltage, the engine cannot run. Then again sometimes a car with an extremely dead or internally shorted battery WON'T start with a jump. Replace the battery and try again.

2005 sedona won't start all of a sudden. Doesn't make a sound except for a tiny whirring sound like the feul injectors. Replaced starter...still won't start. checked all fuses...they are good....

you could just have dead cell in the battery which isn't getting enough amps to the starter,, have the battery LOAD checked,, that will tell you if the battery is actually good, just because it registers 12 volts isn't necessarily an indication that the required amps are present.

1997 chevy cavalier 2.2 engine, intermittent starting problem. Replaced plugs, wires, coil packs. Sometimes it will start and run like a champ. Other times you can't get ut to start at all. I've...

When you say it won't start, do you mean it cranks but won't fire, or it just won't crank? If it just won't crank, you could be having an issue with the starter relay. The often become intermittent before failure. Many owners do not know there is a starter relay because it was added as a recall item i order to protect the iginition switch from burnout. The starter relay is located in the very front of the engine compartment, just to the left of the battery, on the back side of the radiator crossmember.
