Question about Cars & Trucks
Can standard oil instead of BMW approved synthetic damage engine Have 1999 BMW 328i bought recently. Had oil changed & standard Pennzoil 10W40 instead of the BMW APPROVED synthetic oil which had been used in vehicle by previous owner - car has 147K miles. Car now running rough. Could there be engine or other part damage caused by switch from synthetic to standard oil???? I have submitted this question already w/details. It looks like 11 experts have looked @ it already. Cannot seem to get an answer - perhaps this site needs MORE info from me and I have emailed Support - awaiting reply!
Yes, it could damaged your engine, drain and replace filter with what kind was on before, always use synthetic oil,I take my Toyota tundra to dealer to get oil change, and they scan the whole system for free and give me a print out of the results,if something is wrong, they will tell me and how much or I can fix my self. That's the best place to get oil change, hidden benefits. They told me once my license plate bulb was burnt out, they replaced for a dollar.

it is more than impossible to find them used, you may have to buy them new from the dealer, tell them what you are doing and they can sell you the correct assembly.
