Where is the block heater and cord located on a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am?

Block heaters are not a factory options. They are installed as an aftermarket option after the vehicle is purchased. If you have not installed a block heater than there is likely not one in the vehicle. If one was installed it would be in one of the frost plugs in the side of the block. Since it is an aftermarket install the cord could be anywhere or missing. And experienced automotive professional would be able to find it if it was installed the next time you where in for service.

Where do I find the block heater on my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The location of your block heater depends on which motor you have. If you have a 4.7L motor it is on the rear frost plug location on the right side of the engine (passenger side).

raineman_15_16.gif If you are installing a new one notice the direction the block heater points when it goes into the block (upwards).

If you have a 3.7L engine it looks like it is on the same side of the engine except that is is in the first frost plug location. Here is a picture of it.

Now if I understood your question wrong and you are just looking for the block hearts cord, open the hood and check inside the engine compartment or look agound your grill and front bumper area.

Good Luck

check your water pump for leaks. If its coming for the pump housing it will need to be replaced. Check the gasket area where the pump bolts to the block.. If water is not from the pump or around it check your hoses and clamps. check thermostat housing.

I have a 1999 Jeep grand Cherokee ltd with a 4.7 V8 originall purchased in USA. It does not have a block heater. When I purchased a block heater from NAPA my machanic said it was not the right diameter. Is...

Has nothing to do with the location if you are using a heater that replaces a freeze plug in the block. Likely the one you obtained is the incorrect size for the plug hole. Either you have one that was not correctly packaged or someone got the order wrong entirely. Heaters are available for most engines. Have your mechanic order the heater that corresponds with the size of the freeze plug he removed. There is no difference in the castings made for domestic or export...they should all be the same. Location is one of convenience and the only limiting factor should be the length and depth of the heating element so it fits inside the water jacket.

Cant find location of Block hearter cord on 99 Chrysler

usually it is routed out near the headlight.... there is a good chance tho that vehicle doesn't have a block heater. look at the sides of the motor for round metal shaped plugs in the block (frost plugs) do you see any with an electrical fitting ?

Under the glove box beneath the dash the resistor should be screwed into the heater housing.
