SOURCE: cannot drain radiator in my 2003 dodge durango to

I'm guessing that you do not have a radiator drain plug. It would be located on the bottom of the radiator. If not the next best solution is to disconnect the lower radiator hose. You will only need to loosen the clamp, and slide the hose off the radiator. Don't forget to have something to use to collect the fluid. Keep it off until you are ready to refill. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 2005 Dodge Stratus Coolant Outlet Flange

The water outlet housing if installed properly, shouldn't leak. The only way to build up too much pressure would be for the thermostat to be stuck closed. I would find out where the leak is coming from before I went any further. Use the bleeder screw in the housing to bleed the air out of the system.

SOURCE: how to flush coolant system dodge 2004 4x4 pick up truck 4.7 engi

After playing "hide and seek" with drains for years, most times finding they will not turn or are otherwise broken, I finally got smart and began just removing the lower hose from the radiator. It is far faster, most times easier to get to and does the job!! Don't do this hot or you will get an unwanted bath of hot antifreeze. Remove the fill cap after you have the hose off.

How to bleed coolant system, 04 dodge stratus 2.4l sohc?

Get a Haynes manuel or a Chilton and read. Usually you allow the vehicle to heat up until the coolant system activates the thermostat and flushes fluid from radiator into motor and motor coolant into radiator for cooling. Like most newer vehicles you will have a coolant retainer with a cap, remove cap and add coolant to its max line allow the engine to continue flushing inbetween with a work glove on squese upper coolant main hose, feel for any air. If retainer is full and you feel no air the coolant system should be primed. In certain vehicles there will be a shrouder valve that looks like a stem to a bike tire with a cap on it. Usually located on the thermostat housing. Bleed air from circulating coolant system threw the shrouder valve. When no is escapes and fluid levels are at max your cooling system has been primed. Hope this helps best advice get a manuel... good luck

96 dodge stratus I flushed cooling system but still getting a lot of pressure after car warms up .it blows back to overflow

System was not filled right. There are air pockets still in the upper parts of the engine head. You need to be sure the entire contents of coolant are put back into the system. Amclaussen.

remove the heater hoses (both, unless you want to flush it into the radiator, just kidding) hook up (auto parts shop will have a coolant flush kit to hook up to the heater hoses) a garden hose and turn it on, flush both ways.

Type of coolant to use in a 2003 dodge stratus

A 50/50 mix of high quality coolant and water. I'd recomend prestone or peak. Do not use any coolant that says dex-cool, this is for GM cars and trucks.

My 2003 dodge stratus heater will not function unless the car is kept at constant 2500-3000 rpm's. Why.

I am assuming you are saying that it will not blow hot air. So the fan works fine, just no heat. One quick thing to check is the coolant level, if it is low it may not be circulating enough fluid through the heater core, if the the coolant level is full, you may have a partially blocked heater core. When was the last time the coolant was check and the system flushed.

The thermostat is located at the upper radiator hose end of the engine. The hose will connect to a housing that will have to be removed in order to change the thermostat.
While you have the thermostat housing removed, make sure you flush the old coolant out and replace with new.
Good luck.

Heater not blowing hot but engine not overheating

The coolant thermostat needs replaced or you need a coolant flush. Heater cores (in the dashboard) often clog and stop warm coolant from circulating into the heater. A coolant flush would cure this. Flushes usually run from 70 to 90 dollars to have done at a service shop.

ck the coolant level, if low, top off and ck for leaks. then see if the heat comes back. if coolant level is good and engine temp guage is in the middle, flush heater core. if engine temp is too low, replace thermostat.
