Engine shudder and squealing from engine

Has new serpentine belt, but squeal can be heard and engine shudders and can feel shudder on accelleration but no hesitation when you give it gas. Oil is clean sounds like sewing machine when runs.

SOURCE: '96 Toyota 4-Runner makes a loud squealing noise and brake light

Sounds like one of the auxillary belts slipping it may just need tightening up. I think the 4-Runner has two belts one large and one for the steering pump

SOURCE: loud squealing from power steering pump - do I need new PS pump?

Hi Norman,

Sounds like the adjustment may not be correct on the power steering belt, with the tension not being enough, after you replaced the belt ?

Try giving it a little more tension, and go from there.

Hope I have been of help.

Good Luck !

John.

SOURCE: squealing sound every time I start my van

you need to adjust the alternator belt, do adjustment a little bit tightening a bit. this will solve the problem. Or just change a new belt if the belt has crack.

SOURCE: I recently had an a/c belt break on my 2000 Sienna

get away from the shade tree. have your a/c pressures checked. the compressor may be on its way out. make sure the cooling fan or fans are working. did you use a quality belt, or some cheap brand from otto zown? if the rear a/c is running but not the front, the a/c compressor is not engaged, thats why is doesnt squeal.

Do serpentine belts stretch?

serpentine belts do not stretch as you describe because the tensioner keeps them tight so they just break. It is probably hard and cracking and need s a new one so try that first . The ac has nothing to do with the belt as it will be a low gas problem from leaks and the heat is a coolant problem or a control problem from inside the car.. The grinding sound may be a pulley bearing or some other bearing failing. Why don't you take it to a repair shop to find all the faults so that you can work out how much it is going to cost.

The serpentine belt keeps squealing/heater not hot.

Your water pump may be sticking. With the belt off, check all the pulleys for freedom. Sometimes idler bearings fail. When was the system cleaned?

01 chrysler tc mini van squeels when i start it and now is squeeling and pulling the steering wheel when i turn, does this mean i need a ned power steering pump?

No! It appears that your Serpentine Belt needs replacing. The squeal is due to the belt slipping because of it's age. The serpentine belt on a Chrysler is self adjusting so "high speed glaze" or "cracks" in the wide belt will tell you it needs replacement. The only other belt you have separate from the Serpentine Belt is the one for the Air Conditioner. Another word to the wise, never use "Belt Dressing" on these belts. It only makes them deteriorate faster. If you have an old table candle, while the engine's running, place the wax on the underside of the belt and the squeaking should go away. (I feel like, 'what to do with those darn Holiday leftovers'). To see the belt jumping or squealing, have someone start the van and look under the hood while they turn the steering wheel back and forth and you will see the belt "shudder" or "jump" while squealing. A timing light being pointed at the belt will also give you a "stop-action" view of the belt.

No Rack and Pinion yet. (smile) Hope this Helps,

2002 Porsche Boxster - had squealing coming from

Mine did that off and on for a month with no other problems then it started making a loud suction noise and the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and they said the "oil separator" needed to be replaced.
After the repair I never heard the squealing again.

My Serpentine belt is squealing above idle

first thing you need to do is get a new belt that belt dressing just destroyed that belt that stuff is no good then get a new belt tensioner clean all the pullys with some brake clean then install the belt tensioner and belt if its still sqealing there maybe a pully making the noise to check that when you have the belt off spin them by hand and listen to them and feel for any play in the bearings

Engine Squeals

i would have to say that the timing belt is worn and stretched out for normal wear and tear. The check engine light is probably for the same reason. If the timing belt is not quite right it will throw a timing code for the camshaft being out of sync due to the excess slack that is in the timing belt.
