My remote starter does not work, i disconct batt re connect now the locks dont work either, after doing this the truck tries to start three times but fails . What could this be and how do i fix it?Its a 2003 sierra 4.8
Re: remote starter does not work but will unlock and lock...
Depending on your alarm which it sounds like a viper model maybe? on my 02 you have to incorporate a factory alarm bypass module in order to be able to start the truck, they run about 100.00 bucks and have to be profssionally installed. The truck wont start because the computer isnt recieving the proper starting sequence due to the factory alarm

The drivers side door gets the most use
Check the actuator wiring coming through the door hinge
If it works from the key then the Power to the door is OK & the key switch is ok. Must be trigger wire from wireless device receiver!
it is not the actuators, try a different remote, you may have an issue with the car security system/body computer not functioning on the unlock driver door command, one press of remote is unlock driver door and 2 presses is unlock the other doors.
I have a 2003 sierra and my remote starter would not work, it would lock and unlock only, checked out this site found the solution, tried it and in two seconds i solved the problem, Just press the lock button and the start button and viola it works again, thanks for all your help , GGGreat site glad i found it John
i think that this is to prevent you from locking your keys in the car with the engine running.
Some remote starters have a feature that when the car is running (and in park) you can hit the remote start button twice for one second each - then you can take the key out of the ignition and still have the car running.
At this point....if you would hit the 'lock' button on your door the doors would immediately unlock. However, if you get out of the car and close the door leaving it unlocked and then you hit the 'lock' on your original car remote the doors will lock and stay locked. So now the car is running the doors are locked and you have the keys in your hands. Then you can run into the store or house real quick with your car locked.
Once you come back, you hit 'unlock' on the original car remote. the doors will unlock - you can get it - and then before hitting the brake put the key in the ignition and turn it (dont crank it) as if you had when originally using the remote starter.
Maybe this will work for you.....
