Trace the wires coming off the pos(+) batt terminal should be red most of the time depending on vehicle their located on side of motor right before bellhousing on transmission also check an make sure when you turn the key your wires are not getting hot sometimes you can take a screwdriver to the starter bolts an start the engine not sure be much help but worth a shot

Sounds like the neutral safety switch is faulty. Slamming the shifter into Park has temporarily solved the condition for some, but the switch may have to be replaced.

that is a TSB you may have a bad valve body, olso this condition may turn malfunction ligth on, or if you remove the air intake pipe
on trans there is a conector that go to trans valve body some time come lose pluged back an reset PCM if don't fixed will be the trans valve body

There is a solenoid that normally connects the two wires that you manually connected. They do go bad and if they are the replaceable typ an inexpensive fix.
