Question about 1998 Ford Ranger SuperCab

'98 Ford Ranger fan function switch not working

I just bought a '98 Ranger SuperCab, and the fan fuction switch only blows air to the defrost & heater vents. The AC, heat and off positions work fine. I took off the glove box and observed that the door to the blower dosen't work when switch is turned. The heater door is activated by vacuum apparently. I'm not sure if the problem is electrical or mechanical. My main concern is that in the summer the AC won't blow out the dash vents. If anyone knows about this problem please answer this posting. Thank you, Glenn

I found the problem myself (amazing). I traced the vacuum hose from the switch to the engine compartment. What I found was a disconnected vacuum hose on the air intake near the air volume sensor. Also, there was a smaller broken vacuum hose branching off from the hose mentioned. So, if you have this problem, check all vacuum hoses under the dash and hood.

My heater is not working in my 98 ford ranger what do i neet to do to fix? I have flushed th radiator the air blows but it is cold

YOU HAVE valve either under the bonnet ot under the dash board on or near the heater box and it works on vacuum and has a vac pipe connected to it so either that is your problem OR the thermostat is sticking and staying open it wont get hot BUTwill get warm only.

Heater and a/c fan doesnt turn on

Your fan motor has either burned out or there is a short in the wiring. Check for voltage at the fan motor plug under the dashboard. If you have power there then the motor is bad, replace the motor and you should be good to go.

I had a problem with my 2000 ranger when I bought it. Air was coming out of defroster vents. Check for a vacuum hose that may be off under the hood. It uses vacuum to open the vents.
