SOURCE: replace ball joints

Remove in this order: wheel, loosen the 4 lower ball joint set bolts, cotter pin and nut from tie rod, tie rod from ball joint bracket, ball joint from lower control arm, 4 lower ball joint set bolts, ball joint from suspension. Install is reverse but don't tighten the 4 lower ball joint set bolts.

torque is as follows:
ball joint to control arm- 112 ft-lbs
Tie rod nut- 67 ft-lbs
lower ball joint set bolts- 83 ft-lbs
remember to use a new cotter pin

How do you replace lower ball joint on 2003 mazda tribute

From looking at the prices, it would probably be more feasable to just replace the entire arm ball joint included, then you wouldn't have to remove the ball joint

Where is front suspension balljoint replaced on Mazda 323

The front suspension on this car should have struts, which means it will have two ball joints, one on each side. They are in the lower control arm, they connect the front bearing spindle to the lower control arm. They can be difficult to replace, some are bolted and some are press fitted. Any reputable front end alignment shop can replace these, but the cost for doing the job will be more expensive for the press fit ball joints. Hope this helps, let me know.

How do I remove the front axles?

a pry bar works the best. First take the bolt out that holds the lower ball joint and the strut together then take the cv bolt out, (impact gun works best) then put the pry bar where the cv joint goes into the transmission, just keep on working with it till it pops out. Be careful sometimes it leaks transmission fluid out. to install push the cv joint in as much as you can then put the nut on and with a hammer or mall it the nut till it pops in and secures then take the nut off and slide it back through the hub and then connect the hub and lower ball joint together. then tighten bolt to specs and repeat for other side.

Is there anything i need to watch out for when replacing the CV joints on a 95 Mazda mx6

ya torque specs on the outernut
btw i hope you have a high jack and a couple of stands
you will need to remove lower ball joint pry down on a arm and release the front strut and wheel assembly
once this is done crawl your **** under the car and pry out the innerend of the cv shaft yes under
remember that when you install the new shaft to make sure it is seated properly in the transaxcel or tranny

Knocking sound when driving over bumps on right hand front side. checked everything underneath, but can find the problem. It's a 1999 Mazda 323 Astina. I'm in Australia by the way. Thanks, Brian :)

did you check our ball joints? jack up the wheel and try to move it side to side and up and down. it should move no more than an 1/8" either way. Any more than that and your ball joints aer starting to wear.
