Question about 1988 Ford F 250

1 Answer

Fuel system I have an 89 ford f-250 with a 351 EFI. About every 3 or 4 months it dies and acts lke it.'s starving for fuel. If I let it set for an hour or two it starts and doesn't do it again for 3 or 4 months.I have replaced both fuel pumps, relays, and filter and taken it to 3 mechanics who can't figure it out ! Any suggestions? Thanks, SAL

Check fuel pressure. Your fuel pump could be at fault. Did you install your fuel filter correctly?

Have you checked to make sure the fuel filter isn't clogged (in fact, check all the filters). Sometimes it's really that simple . . .

Car dies after it warms up, no pressure in radiator when i remove cap, and acts like it's starving for gas

Some of the information does not correlate.

If there is no Pressure, then you Radiator Cap is Bad

Stalling or Starving for Gas can be a Fuel Pump or Air Filter

Remove the Air Filter and see what happens.

Test the PRESSURE of the FUEL System

I have a 1984 ford 250 with a 460 and dual tanks and I changed the Tank switching unit but even before the truck would start and It seemed it would starve for fuel it would than die .It would blow the 19...

Be careful not to send regular voltage(amperage) into the fuel sending units. They operate on low current so no sparks. I don't know that particular fuel system(mine's EFI),but I wanted to make sure you were careful. don-ohio

My truck acts like it is starving for gas

You need to check spark plugs/wires/distributor cap.
Also good idea to check/replace fuel filter/air filter. It might be also bad fuel pump.
Good Luck
