SOURCE: Where is bank 2 located for the camshaft position

bank two is the bank of cylinders that is closer to the radiator...not the firewall side.

SOURCE: Where is the rear bank

Both cam sensors are on the rear of the cylinder heads. They are located in the same place on each head. The only difference in the two sensors is one has a straight connector and the other has an angled connector because of other things that are in the way, (see diagram)

You need to have a live data scanner hooked up to verify the powertrain control module (PCM) is actually receiving the signals from the CMP sensors you replaced, there is no more guessing here and no quick answers, it is a possibility the wiring harness and connectors to the sensors is defective, the wiring should always be replaced whenever the sensors are replaced on this engine ALWAYS, as they are frequently the problem and not the sensors themselves. Before you replace a part you may or may not need . Why ? What code ? Does the vehicle run ? There has been a lot of confusion on these vehicles with variable valve timing , mixing up cam sensors with camshaft actuators
DTC P0008: Engine Position System Performance Bank 1

DTC P0009: Engine Position System Performance Bank 2
The presence of DTCs P0008 and P0009 along with P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019 indicates a possible condition with the primary timing chain and the alignment between both intermediate sprockets and the crankshaft. Or, the crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced to top dead center (TDC).

Observe the scan tool CMP Desired, Actual, and Angle Variance parameters before a DTC sets. This may help to isolate whether a condition is specific to one camshaft, one bank, or caused by a condition with the primary crankshaft timing.

I have the code p0340 for slip n tcs is telling me is a sensor but it show2


I am not sure what "slip n tcs" means but on the 2005 nissan maxima the code P0340 is for the camshaft position sensor circit on bank 1, which is in the rear of the engine compartment. 2005 Neon engine light came on and stays on. Car drives okay. Has around 34,000 miles. No other problems


Take it to Autozone or Advanced auto and get an engine diagnostic and ask them to printout the results. Most times it's a sensor.
