SOURCE: how do i change the front brake pads

First make sure you have the park brake on
Raise the front end make sure to support with jack stands
Remove tires

this should leave the front brakes exposed

there are two slide bolts holding the caliper in place loosen both and remove

then wedge a screw driver between the inner pad and the rotor and lightly pry towards you to take some pressure off of the caliper

you should now be able to lift off the caliper it will still have the brake line attached to it so be sure to secure it to something ie a bungie strap to the suspension or something do not just let it hang by the brake line

slide out the old pads out of the caliper mounting braket

now take a caliper press and push the piston back into the brake caliper use the old inner pad do not push directly on the caliper piston (if you dont have a caliper press just substitute a c clamp it works fine)

if replacing the rotors remove the caliper bracket once again two bolts

remove the caliper bracket

remove rotor

Make Sure to inspect the caliper for leaks or damage

To install reverse and youll be done before you know it

Make sure to lube slide pins with a small amount of brake grease and make sure the caliper moves freely apon installation

After you have done both sides

set down car and slowly pump the brake pedal about 15 times to close the distance between caliper piston and brake pads thats all

I hope this helps

Is it a brake squeak? Some vehicles have a little metal tab on the brakes that starts squeaking when they get close to needing to be replaced. When you push the brake, the sound may go away due to the pressure being applied. Check your front brake pads.

Break pedal squeaking

is the squeak inside the car? if so, then yes it's probably the pedal or linkage. If it's outside the car, then either the brakes were done poorly or the pads are defective. Assuming you had the front and rear brakes done. Could be the other brakes if only 1 axle was serviced.

Uneven brake pad wear

usually if you hit a puddle of water, it will warp your rotor. you can take your rotors to a mechanic that has a rotor turning machine, and they can smooth them back to normal. thats probably why you are having uneven wear on your brake pads.

2008 hyundai elantra. All lights work on the rear of the car except brake lights. Fuses are good. no power to break lights when break peddal is depresed.

The most widespread Hyundai recall, affecting up to 531,894 2005-2008 Accent, Azera, Elantra, Entourage, Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson, and Veracruz models, is NHTSA Campaign 09V122000. It is focused on a malfunctioning stop lamp switch that may prevent brake lights from illuminating when the pedal is depressed (the same switch may also cause them to stay lit after the brakes are released).
Owners of affected vehicles may contact Hyundai Customer Service at 1-800-633-5151, call the NHTSA Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or visit SAFERCAR.GOV

My front brakes squeak, I replaced the pads but the squeak is still there. These have squeaked for a long time?

There is an ongoing problem with squeaking front brakes on dodge rams and charger rt.From 2000 up to present Ihave been told dodge used cheap pads and rotors on a lot of there cars and trucks.I own a 2008 charger rt with 40000 miles and changed brake pads and rotors twice and they still squeak.i herd only remedy is to buy upgraded pads and rotors but these are much more expensive then stock parts. For now i am putting up with squeak till i get the extra money to get rid of noise.the brakes wont fail they just squeak.(I know very annoying)for now i just turn up radio a little louder LoL.But until dodge admits there using cheap ???? parts complaining to dealer didnt help.Good luck. PS A friend of mine put on slotted rotors and expensive pads and yes the still squeak. So mabye it has somthing to do with calipers but again dodge wont admit this.

2003 Hyundai Accent: ~30,000miles; the brakes squeak and there is rattling sound from underneath. I haven't replaced brake pads yet, so I believe that may be part of the problem, but I want to be sure....

you need to check them then,,,if you do fit new pads rember to put some "copper grease" on the back of the pads,,,this grease stops the pads from squeaking,,,honest,,it dose!
