Tire air leaks on Chrome wheels, 2007 MKZ

I replaced the original tires at 55000 miles with chrome wheels and started having air leaks. The tire shop would put a sealer on the wheels and it helped but did not stop the problem until I had a tire lose all the air while driving. The tire could not be repaired, and the tire shop replaced it. I then went to a Lincoln dealer, they sanded all the wheels and put a sealer on them. So far so good. Is this a problem with chrome wheels? A sales man at the dealer said chrome wheels are no longer available and thought the problem might be coming from dust from the brake pads working on the chrome after a few years. Is there any kind of silent recall with this problem or any payment for the cost of having it fixed?

it shouldn't hurt the tire, but may cause a slow leak if the chrome is flaking off at the 'bead' where the tire seals to the rim.

Tire pressure light constantly goes to low pressure on 2007 mkz

Use a pressure gauge as a reliable measure of pressure. Once you establish what the tires actually contain, you will be more able to diagnose the electronics.

Since each sensor is independent, a default would show in each individual tire. If you establish that each tire sensor is working, then the main unit must be the problem.

This stuff was invented after I quit wrenching. I can't say whether the Code in the receiver is fixed or adjustable. If it is adjustable, then it either needs to be flashed or physically adjusted to a different pressure warning level.

If your tires are actually deflating, it can be a rim leak or a puncture.

2000 chrysler lhs wheels/tires leaking air

I have seen complaints about the factory chrome peeling off in the bead area and causing leak. Didn't find a service bulletin for that.
Take it to a tire shop let them look at it, see if they can smooth up the bead area. It would only be in the bead area. In the past, I have used a wire brush adapter that fits in a drill to clean rust off the rim bead area. I don't know if that would work, if chrome was peeling.
As a last resort, replace the rim. I don't think Chrysler is going to help you?

mcdevito75 here, Your Tire Mechanic could be right regarding the chrome wheels leaking a bit of air, however, you have radial tires, either all season or steel belted, and once punctured radial tires are very hard to seal, very hard. I would advise a new tire rather than all 4 new chrome rims.

How do i reset the tire pressure monitoring system on a 2008 mkz?

The tire pressure monitor will go out automatically on a Lincoln MKZ in the following manner. If you determine and identify that you have low air pressure on any of your tires (including the spare), you simply re-inflate to the proper pressure. If this corrects the problem the air pressure sensors will reset after the car has been driven for 20 miles.. If this does not fix the problem, you have a faulty sensor...

Tires mounted on Chrysler Chrome Rime go flat when cold

it is most likely the valve stems. take off the caps and spray some soapy water in them and around the base. if there is a leak you will see bubbles.
