SOURCE: oil guage drops then goes to high range

sounds like your sending unit needs to be replaced cheap fix and if your oil pump losses all its pressure you will begin to hear knocking coming from your motor from the top under the heads.

SOURCE: Temperature gauge needle is stuck below the peg.

It won't cause any problems with the temperature of the engine, but you wont be able to tell if its getting to hot or what temperature the engine is at.

To fix it you will have to take the dash apart to gain access to the instrument cluster.
If your a DIY type of person you could head to autozone.com and check out some diagrams to see how this is done. They have some diagrams when you set up a log in account for free.

Good luck! If you have any other questions about it just ask.

Not getting oil pressure when turned on runs rough, oil pressure gauge is pegged high on 99Bonneville SE

I suspect the gauge/sender/ or wiring is bad. Does the gauge peg with the key on, but engine not running? An engine wont run long(maybe 10 min with no oil pressure). suspect gauge has nothing to do with a rough running.

My oil pressure gauge always reads as high as it can go when the truck is running. I actually think it is a bad stepper motor. Can anyone confirm my suspicion?

unplug the oil pressure sender and see if the gauge goes to zero. If it does than the old cluster was not working properly and the new one is. If the gauge continues to peg with the sender unplugged than your on the right track with a bad cluster.

Oil pressure gauge pegs at 80 PSI as soon as you turn the key on. I have replaced the gauge and confirmed the sending unit is working properly. Any ideas on where to look next?

Sounds like a grounded wire. Most senders change resistance to the ground circuit of the gauge. If it pegs there is no resistance to ground and probably a shorted wire.

it is probably the oil sending unit if you have access to a direct reading oil pressure gauge put it on and if oil pressure is reading normal replace sender
