Bang on the top of the cluster and see if that works if not you have to remove the cluster and replace the bulbs if they are replace able if you need a new cluster but bang on it or wait check your dimer make sure its on not off also goodluck

SOURCE: need to know "no bus" indicator light on instrument panel....

"No Bus" means the data cable going to the (PCM) computer is unplugged, or the PCM has failed and not able to read the information it is being given.
Sometimes just jiggling the PCM causes the ODO "NO BUS" to come on.
Sometimes a bad crank or cam sensor can cause this as well.

Here is the OFFICIAL checklist for the "NO BUS" condition....

Vehicle: 1998 - 1999 Dodge Durango 3.9L
2000 - 2001 Dodge Durango 4.7L
1998 - 2000 Dodge Durango 5.2L
1998 - 2001 Dodge Durango 5.9L



Symptom: Engine will not start. Gauges are inoperative. No BUS message displayed on odometer.



System: Body/Chassis Electrical, Emissions/PCM/Fuel, Engine Electrical



Codes: N/A



Problem 1 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor.



Test & Fix: If the 5v power supply circuit is shorted to ground, the CCD bus is unable to transmit messages and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) appears to be "dead". The PCM is not damaged when the 5v power supply gets shorted to ground, but does need to be reset by turning the key off for 10 second after the short is removed. Using a DVOM or labscope, measure the voltage on the 5v reference wire at the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. If 5v is not present, unplug the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor. Turn the key off for 10 seconds. Turn the key on and measure the voltage on the 5v power supply circuit. If the voltage is now 5v, replace the CKP sensor.



Problem 2 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor.



Test & Fix: If the 5v power supply circuit is shorted to ground, the CCD bus is unable to transmit messages and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) appears to be "dead". The PCM is not damaged when the 5v power supply gets shorted to ground, but does need to be reset by turning the key off for 10 second after the short is removed. Using a DVOM or labscope, measure the voltage on the 5v reference wire at the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor. Using a DVOM or labscope, measure the voltage on the 5v reference wire (5v power supply) at the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor. If 5v is not present, unplug the MAP sensor. Turn the key off for 10 seconds. Turn the key on and measure the voltage on the 5v power supply circuit. If the voltage is now 5v, replace the MAP sensor.



Problem 4 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).



Test & Fix: If the 5v power supply circuit is shorted to ground, the CCD bus is unable to transmit messages and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) appears to be "dead". The PCM is not damaged when the 5v power supply gets shorted to ground, but does need to be reset by turning the key off for 10 second after the short is removed. Using a DVOM or labscope, measure the voltage on the 5v reference wire (5 volt power supply) at the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor. If 5v is not present, unplug the TPS. Turn the key off for 10 seconds. Turn the key on and measure the voltage on the 5v power supply circuit. If the voltage is now 5v, replace the TPS.



Problem 5 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted wire.



Test & Fix: If the 5v power supply circuit is shorted to ground, the CCD bus is unable to transmit messages and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) appears to be "dead". The PCM is not damaged when the 5v power supply gets shorted to ground, but does need to be reset by turning the key off for 10 second after the short is removed. Using a DVOM or labscope, measure the voltage on the 5v reference wire at the throttle position sensor (TPS) or manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor. If 5v is not present, unplug all sensors that are connected to the 5v power supply and disconnect the PCM. Check if either 5v power supply circuit is shorted to ground using a DVOM. If the circuit is found to be shorted to ground, repair the wire and the cause of the short.



Problem 6 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Governor Pressure Sensor.



Test & Fix: If the 5v power supply circuit is shorted to ground, the CCD bus is unable to transmit messages and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) appears to be "dead". The PCM is not damaged when the 5v power supply gets shorted to ground, but does need to be reset by turning the key off for 10 second after the short is removed. Using a DVOM or labscope, measure the voltage on the 5v reference wire at the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor. If 5v is not present, unplug the large round connector on the driver's side of the transmission. Turn the key off for 10 seconds. Turn the key on and measure the voltage on the 5v power supply circuit. If the voltage is now 5v, remove the transmission pan and check for shorted wiring inside the transmission. If the wiring is OK, replace the Governor Pressure Sensor.


Many times the PCM simply overheats - and changing it will stop the problem.

if this is a 4.7l engine, the valve is on the left rear of the intake. loosen the 8mm bolts that hold the egr intake tube to the egr valve, remove the egr bolts, disconnect wiring, remove valve and tube together, attach intake tube loosely to new valve, install new valve, tighten tube bolts to egr using a swivel socket, this is not a 5 minute job, so dont attempt unless you have some time and patience.

Check your tail light fuse, on the dodge ram the dash lights and tail lights use the same fuse so if the tail light fuse blows your dash lights will go out to alert you of no tail lights.

Go to the dealer. It is the only way, they have to use a computer. Changing the battery doesn't make it lose it's program though. You most likely broke the battery hold down. This is the most common thing I see at my shop. If the key still starts the vehicle, you now have a bad key fob. If not, you may be able to get it reprogrammed.

Reports say that this can be caused by cold solder connections in the centre instrument panel where the A/C controls are. Electrical system issue here manifests itself in instrument cluster. Fix is to remove 4 screws to access A/C stuff. Look for burnt or loose wiring / terminals on connectors in this area.. Re-solder or obtain used replacemnt terminal if needed, from junk yard. Mine is 1999 Grand Caravan. Intermittent failures then permanent with instrument cluster.

Which fue # shuts off the interior lights on my 2004 dodge durango


Fuse #19 in the left kick panel fuse block. But this fuse powers a lot of other components including the instrument cluster. I recommend removing the light bulbs instead.

I had a similar problem on my 2001 Caravan. Turned out to be a loose connection between the frame control module and the fuse box. I unscrewed the frame/front control module from the fuse box and bent the tabs slightly to make better contact. Then tighten down the module securley. Need star driver to loosen screws

Replacing heater core on 2000 durango


  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait 2 minutes for the driver's/passenger's air bag system capacitor to discharge before attempting to do any work around the steering column or instrument

  2. Remove the instrument panel by performing the following procedure:
    1. Remove the trim from the right and left door sills.
    2. Remove the trim from the right and left cowl side inner panels.
    3. Remove the steering column opening cover from the instrument panel.
    4. Remove the 2 hood latch release handle-to-instrument panel lower reinforcement screws and lower the release handle to the floor.
    5. Disconnect the driver's side air bag module wire harness connector.
    6. If equipped, disconnect the overdrive lockout switch harness connector.
    7. Do not disassemble the steering column but remove the assembly from the vehicle.
    8. From under the driver's side of the instrument panel, disconnect or remove the following items:
      • The screw from the center of the headlight/dash-to-instrument panel bulkhead wire harness connector and disconnect the connector.
      • The 2 body wire harness connectors from the 2 instrument panel wire harness connector that secure the outboard side of the instrument panel bulkhead connector.
      • The 3 wire harness connectors from the 3 junction block connector receptacles located closest to the dash panel; 1 from the body wire harness and 2 from the headlight/dash wire harness.
      • The plastic park brake release linkage rod-to-rear parking brake release handle lever. Disengage the linkage rod from the handle lever.
      • The stoplight switch connector.
      • The vacuum harness connector from the left side of the heater/air conditioning housing assembly.
    9. Remove the instrument panel center support bracket.
    10. Remove the instrument panel wire harness ground screw located on the left side of the air bag control module (ACM) mount on the floor panel transmission tunnel.
