There should also be a same size hole (roughly) in the blower mounting flange. Normally all blower assemblies have a rubber tube connecting these two holes. It provides cooling air for the blower motor. And now you know!

SOURCE: Blower motor 95 jeep Cherokee

Hi Craftsman,
I suffered a similar failure on my little Rover. I think you will find out the resistor on the blower has had it. It is probably similar in theory. The resistor block contains several resistors. As you alter the blower speed, different resistors are used. One of yours has obviously failed. You need to replace the resistor block, which may be located at the back of the engine bay, on the passenger side, under the wiper module. Or you can remove the resistor block and replace the failed resistor - a competent auto-electrician can do this, or advise you how to.

I need to replace the air conditioner blower fan on my 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport.

You need to pull the blower motor (under dash on pass side) and vac out the debris that is in the ducts. If the fan is turning, you may have had a mouse take up residence in the heater, and there is stuff hitting the blower as it turns. Hope this helps.

I have a 1996 jeep grand Cherokee, and my blower motor has quit. What could the problem be?? I checked the fuses and they all are in good condition.

The blower motor might be the problem, turn it on and bump the blower motor and see if it tries to work,if it does, then it is the problem, but it still can be the problem, and not work at all, check the blower relay, and the connection to the fan switch,it could be burned up,and not making a good connection.

I would try to replace the blower motor resistor first,If that doesnt repair your problem you may wanna try replacing the blower speed switch. The resistor is located under the passenger side of the dash mounted in the heater box.

Replace switch but the heat won't turn on.and it's not the fuse..95 jeep cherokee sport

Most likely the blower motor,it has gone out, some times, not always, you can bump the blower motor with your hand, and it will start to run,or it will try,if so,replace the blower motor, otherwise, check the voltage at the blower motor,if it has voltage, replace the blower motor,if it has no voltage at the blower motor, then replace the blower relay, located near the blower motor.
