Sounds like the speed sensor on the rear axle.

SOURCE: 1999 dodge durango heater core

It's a big job. Drain the coolant down, recover the freon in the ac system and disconnect the lines and heater hoses. Lower the steering column, remove the instrument panel assembly, remove the heater housing. Split the case halves on the housing and there you are. Usually around 500 to 700 dollars at a dealership.

SOURCE: 1999 dodge ram 1500 5.2L timing,plug gap,firing order

You will find the spark plug gap and timing specifications listed on the vehicles emission label under the hood, and those specifications are the ones to be used on that vehicle and engine for that year, and no other specifications should ever take precedence over the specifications listed on the vehicles emission control label. Here is the firing order diagram for that engine, let me know if you require any further assistance, and I an curious as to how you got taken for $2,000.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 coolant vapor coming through the vents

Most likely you have a leaking heater core, or a leak at the hose connection at the heater core. Proliance brand cores run 45-50.00 and the part number is 398313. If you fan only runs on high, the motor resister is probably defective. They cost around 45.00 and the AC Delco part number is C1112. When you are doing your repairs you will probably want to replace the cabin air filter also. The ac delco part number is ACA1166C. These numbers are assuming you have the 318 engine. A good ammonia based window cleaner should do the trick for removing the antifreeze film on the glass. If not, try vinegar- stinks though. Hope this helps. Marvin.
