Question about Hyundai Cars & Trucks
Turn the keys, car cranks, engine starts, but sputters, loud & dies off in seconds. Try again, cranks, starts, step on accelerator, black fumes out from exhaust pipe, strong gas smell near exhaust, step OFF accelerator, dies off seconds later. Cause? pls advise, thanks, Jimmy

You need to Replace the Catalytic Converter. That is what you are Smelling. It has Clogged up and will also Cause the Light on the Dash Problem. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

hi bob, take off the oil filler cap, have someone crank the engine while you look inside, if the rockers are not moving, it is a broken or slipped belt, if the rockers are moving try a compression test to see if the problem is limited to one cylinder or all of them....does the sound of the engine cranking seem faster than normal? is there any noise (clanking/banging) while cranking? marty good luck let me know!

The MAF sensor is the likely problem. Ca be clraned w/crc electrical cleaner only. Do not touch , rub,or use compressed air to clean or dry. It's located in the intake duct in one of the metal sections. The plug and wires will give it away. Good Luck-Ned-
