Question about 1992 Oldsmobile 88

1 Answer

Heat my 92 does not blow air @any level. I have checked the relay. not it. fuses have all been checked. not it. before it completely stopped, i would be driving (in summer) and it would just come on, all the way to high. it would not shut off until i turned the car off. now it does not do even that. it also would not come on when i hit the buttons for it to come on. now when i turn it to high it says it is on high it just doesnt blow. also could that have anything to do with why my cigarette lighter will pop out but not heat up. As i tried any electric heater but the cigarette lighter is not working.

The car would not start. The garage did do a diagnostic test, I am not sure if it was electrical, it was a main fuse. The car would sound like it wanted to start, but didnt as if there was no gas so I assume the main fuse was to the fuel pump therefore not electrical. In any case, when I picked up my car they said they could not do a diagnostic test for the heat. Why? I do not know.

Yes, the cigarette lighter problem most likely is related to the heater problem; as long as you have tried a new cigarette lighter and it has not worked. Have you ran any electrical diagnostic problem on the car?

Saturn vue batter boiling blowing relays

what is an ignition relay, ?
did you blow fuses?
what fuels, and battery boiling (running or not?)
running boil , would be overcharging , a bad alternator, or wiring to same.
not running boiling is crazy levels of battery loads.
if in my shop, out comes the AMPclamp meter, to find out
who is sucking extreme currents. and why fuses are not blowing
did some (#@!$) put in over size fuses, inviting a nice fire?
but if you have no tools? what can you do.
little, hold wet finger in air?
you could disconnect things and stop the drain
put them back 1 at a time (days work) an find the part that sucks
too much juice.

send photo with finger pointing to said relay.

Hi my heater has completely stopped working how ddo I fix it

BY COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING I ASSUME THERE IS NO AIR FAN BLOWING OR THERE IS NO WARM AIR COMING OUT OF THE VENTS? IF THIS IS SO, FIND THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE HEATING SYSTEM AND SEE IF IT IS BLOWN, IS SO REPLACE IT. IF IT WORKS BUT BLOWS ANOTHER FUSE YOU HAVE A SHORT. BEST LEFT TO AN EXPERT. OTHER THEN THAT THERE IS NOT MUCH MORE THAT CAN GO WRONG WITH HEATERS, THERE IS HOWEVER AN OUTSIDE POSSIBILITY YOUR TSTAT IS STUCK CLOSED OR YOUR ENGINE FAN IS NOT WORKING IF IT IS ELECTRIC, OR YOUR FAN CONTROL MODULE IS ON THE WAY OUT.

My heater was blowing heat on 4 and 5 and now stopped blowing heat completely, does this sound like I need to replace the resistor card?

sounds like the blower resistor, check to see if you have power to the blower if so then it's the blower motor,if not could be the resistor, fuse, relay,or control switch.

2005 GMC Sierra 1500 - heater blows, but only cold air

Check coolant level. Check for heat at the heater hose going from water pump to heater core at firewall. Check to see that cable is moving coolant control valve from the closed to open position. Low mileage so it shouldn't be plugged heater core.

Heating system for '95 Grand Am, suddenly stopped blowing warm air. I've checked coolant levels and fuses, all appear ok. What else can I check?

Do you get air out of the vents? If so check for tubing system inside the console, are you leaking any water to the carpet? Now, if you dont get any air blowing out then it can be the fan relay. Good luck

look for Main A/C relay, look for fuses, or go to a/c shop and have gas check out, perhaps leaks, perhaps evaporator, perhaps condenser, but start for relay box on front passengers side, or fuses on same side

The conector for the a/c compressor comes with a diode that keeps power from returning after the compressor cycles off. Check or replace the connector/and or diode and see if that fixes the problem
