Did you have red antifreeze prior to the flushing? Ford engines are generally aluminium and should be using blue antifreeze which is suitable for aluminium engine blocks! I think the antifreeze is reacting to the aluminium.....re flush and use blue!

Dipping of rusty water

yep heater core in dash leaking, sound like heater core rusted out if you used straight water.you need to have radiator and engine block flushed because rusty water is in the entire coolant system, you need flush coolant system replace thermostat add 50/50 antifreeze and water mixture never run straight water because straight water in winter weather will cause water freeze up in cylinder block and crack cylinder block you need antifreeze mixture in coolant system to keep coolant from freezing.

I want to flush the coolant on a 2003 Kia Optima 2.4 liter Auto with A/C. How much antifreeze should I buy to mix with water? What is the total coolant capacity?

Coolant capacity is 7.7 qts./7.3 liters, for a 2.4 liter 2003 Kia Optima.
You will not be able to get all the coolant out of the engine, unless you do a thorough engine drain and flush. If you only plan on draining the radiator, you will need less than 2 gallons mixed total to refill it, since some coolant will remain in the engine block and heater core.

Flushing antifreeze on a 2006 kia sorento

This procedure makes a bit of a mess and requires catch pans but it is the best way to flush a coolant system without cutting any hoses or adding a flush kit.

If your radiator does not have a drain plug is to remove the LARGE lower radiator hose and drain the anit-freeze. (Even if it does have a drain plug the steps below are the best way) You then plug the lower radiator hose connection on the radiator and have a 2nd person add water to the radiator with a hose. They will need to place a rag over the fill port for the radiator and flush the block until you get clear water from the lower drain hose. Once you get clear water drain off the fresh water by unblocking the lower radiator fitting and flush the radiator. Once you get cleanwater from the radiator connection, reconnect your lower radiator hose. (Tighten the clamp!) Then add your anti-freeze. Remember there will still be a some water in the block so do not be afraid to keep your anit-freeze / water ratio a tad higher because the left over water in the block will dilute it slightly.

Antifreeze pushing into oil

  • When anti-freeze gets into the oil it flushed the bearings and the result will be a seized engine,
  • The causes are always the same. Either a cracked head gasket, cracked head or cracked engine block.
  • This is a job that should be handled by an experience mechanic. If you don't get it fixed you will ruin your engine.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

I found a mud like substance in my 1998 buick century antifreeze reservour

this could be one of two problems.1.someone has mixed two different types of antifreeze that are not compatible, you need to flush/ refill asap.2.you do not have the right amount of antifreeze in the system and its rust dust(mud). system needs full flush/refill to 50/50.when you do flush.flush backward,up to the reservoir, not down(i take the top hose off the heater, block the pipe, and connect a hose to the heater manifold,if you can get to it.....that way you wont get any air in system.

Noticed what looks like lithium grease inside the oil fill cap while i was changing the oil..what is it????

this means that you have a headgasket leak flush the system take out the antifreeze fill with just water put in a bottle of block seal / headgasket sealer run the engine for about 3 to 4 hrs then flush out the system again and fill with antifreeze (remember that block seal will clog your system (if) you don't get all the antifreeze out ( read the label on the bottle (autozone carries block seal) about 25;00 bucks

Need to know which piston is the number 4 piston on the kia serento, I need to change the fuel injector

If it's a 4 cyl, number 4 is the rearmost (Away from the fan belt) If a 6, it's the second one on front side of the engine (going from belts to tranny). Even numbers, 2, 4, 6 on front bank, odd numbers, 1,3,5 on back bank.
