automatic transmission fluid is filled directly through the same tube the transmission dipstick goes...a long neck funnel and slow pouring followed by constant level checking is best never overfill the transmission

SOURCE: transmission problems

I had a 01 impala that was **** too. switched to Ford and havent been to the shop since. If you look at the question breakdown for this website you will see 5 times as many posts for chevys than fords. However, you could have gotten a bad rebuild too. I had a rebuild done once and they boke most of the bolts that held the transmission in and didnt replace them.

2005 chevy impala.. transmission slipping or something. this car has about 193,000 miles on it.. im wondering why its slipping (transmission) and if its even worth fixing...???

HI,
First, verify the transmission fluid level is correct - look in the Owner's Manual for info. 2nd get a transmission fluid replacement - do NOT do a 'chemical flush' it could make it even worse....just have them drain out ALL the old fluid and put in new fluid. Shouldn't cost more than $100. If you have any Check Engine Lights or other unusual lights on, get those checked out, too.

Per KBB.com car is worth about $2500 if you sell it yourself; dealer might give your $1500 but only $500 w/a bad transmission. A rebuilt transmission would likely cost $2000....do NOT fix it. 193K miles is a lot on any car especially an Impala. Time a for another car.

Changing fluid is just that

Old fluid out, new in, won't fix a thing

My 2005 chevy impala recieved a code of P1070 and I am unsure of what that means. I could really use some help. I believe I need to change the spark plugs could this cause the problem I have?

Unfortunately not the best news: A P1870 code means the transmission reporting to the computer that something is slipping.

You could try flushing / changing the transmission fluid & resetting the computer, but transmission service could be in your near future.

Hope this helps.

I own a 2005 impala it jurks when i start to drive and sometimes after i start driving. Also when i'm on a hill it rolls back on its on, after i take my foot off the brake. Is there a recall on the 2005...

Sounds like it needs transmission fluid if its an automatic. When automatic transmissions get low on fluid they **** or slip when the pumps in the transmission lose pressure. This can also cause permanent damage to the clutches in the transmission. Check to see what color the fluid is. If its red its ok. If its black looking the strainer needs to be changed or the clutches are starting to burn from lack of fluid.
