SOURCE: 1993 chevy pickup hard starting and tach oscilates 200 rpm up and down

sounds more likley you have an air leak this will cause bad starting as it is sucking air in instead of fuel when its cold and wnen it warms up idling will be eratic and misfire check all hoses gaskets relating to the inlet manifold or if its done that kind of mileage crankcase pressure could be the problem but i suspect an air leak yates210456

Check throttle position sensor. TPS. Over time they"ve been known to develop a dead spot which usually will appear where you would normally have accelerator when driving normally, I would suppose due to repitition wearing it out at that area. If you have a multimeter (analog- needle) style, you can test it and watch needle for stumble, or drop off when moving throttle smoothly up and down.

99 Malibu the motor kinda pulsesates like its cutting out !! Replaced plugs , fuel filter still does it , ?

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM or ECM,ECU), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

The abs light keeps going off on my 99 Chvy Malibu. How mucha dn how can I fix this problem?

Have the vehicle wheel speed sensors ckecked for connection problems . There on each front wheel and work like small generators they cerate a voltage called a referance voltage about .5 volts and send it the VCM and that tells the VCM how fast the wheels are spining in relation to the speed sensor on the out put shaft on the transmission . Its likely one of the front ones because they get more water and road salt that could corroad the connections and contacts and likely could just be cleaned to correct the problem

Steering veers to the left?

Drive slowly down the middle of a straight road, let the steering wheel go and apply the brakes. If the car wants to turn by itself check your ball joints and shocks. If the car remains straight you may have an irregular wearing tire which causes it wonder at higher speeds.
I hope this helps
