This is an EGR code and it is generally caused by the EGR passages being carboned up and not allowing proper flow to the valve. I would remove the EGR valve and inspect the passages and clean them if necessary before I went any further.

internal control module? thats a new one for me. you need to have you obd2 scanned to find out what the trouble code it (thats why your check engine light is on)
