Question about 2002 Ford Taurus

Chugging issue.... I recently bought my Ford Taurus about 3 months ago..For the past month or so, I have been experiencing problems with the car sometimes it will chugg at idle or going at low speeds ( ex. in a parking lot)..It has never stalled and the engine light is NOT on..Once I give it some gas the chugging usually stops after a few mins..I took it somewhere and they told me I should replace the fuel filter and get a fuel injector cleaning, so I did...I thought that worked, because it didnt do it for about a week..Then I noticed that I had just under a half of a tank of gas and thats when the chugging started again..Today I filled it and chugging stopped...Also, today before I put gas in..As I was accelerating the car would buck twice between the speeds of 20-30, like it was about to start chugging then would stop once i got past 40...And i also heard an odd noise coming from the back of the car on the right side, like a pumping noise (sorry cant really explain it)..Now this never happens when the car is cold it runs great( with the exception of this morning when it accelerated bad), it only happens when the car has warmed up and its just under a half a tank of gas...Someone said fuel pump? But I would like other opinions because I dont want to spend money on something that wont fix the problem... Thank you

If this is a fuel pump problem.. Is the repair costly? Is it worth it to buy a used fuel pump?

I have the same problem. Just changed my spark plugs out on my 1994 Taurus and when It was idiling and I would slowly push down the gas once it got to full throttle it would start chugging. Drove it around the block a few times havent tried the highway yet ( dont want to break down there) any Ideas would be greatly appreciated...

SOURCE: Just bought a 1988 Ford

well i'd call the basterd and ask him what he wants to do about it , or take him to court as he did not disclose these problems. Or did he? I would check the fuel system for leaks which causes engine to get air and less fuel than it requires or check tank for leak and also check motor for bad vacuum lines and intake gaskets. spark plugs check.

SOURCE: 2000 Ford Taurus. Would

change the fuel filter for one, this is telling you that your pick up in the tank is getting clogged, I would drop my tank, and drain it, flush it, and check the pump at that time

Got a 2001 Ford Taurus with 128K miles, engine was rebuilt 10 months ago, for the last 4 months it has been chugging or hesitating when I'm stopped at a light, Autozone codes said egr pressure sensor,...

Sounds like the egr solenoid stuck..Not the valve..When you are sitting at idle,,you should be able to take off the vacum line and there should be no vacuum..,If there is back track that line and see if it goes to a solenoid..I bet the vacuum lines are crossed..One should have vacuum,,the other should go to the egr valve..If they are crossed on the egr solenoid,,then you end up with constant vacuum going to your egr valve..Until you figure it out leave the line off the egr valve and block the line..If you are constantly haveing the valve held open,,you killing sparkplugs and the catylitic converter

I bought a 2008 Ford Taurus X 6 months ago. It had high miles. 97k. I am hearing a kind of clicking noise when it's idling. My hubs said it sounds like the lifters. Is this an easy fix and how much does it...

That is a major repair on todays overhead cams
Forget even thinking about that

Today you have to go over 200,000 miles
to be considered high mileage

My Ford Taurus 2001 Suddenly stopped starting. The ignition sounds fine, Turns over, but nothing is catching. Battery is fine, gas level is fine, no check engine light.I thought maybe it just wouldn't...

Some fords if you slam the trunk lid too hard, it pops the fuel shutoff relay in the trunk area. It is like a circuit breaker you just push the button to reset it. Or you copuld have a sensor under the hood went bad(crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, mass air flow sensor).
I would start by calling the ford dealership to verify the whereabouts of the fuel shutoff relay, and start there. I had a few late 80's taurus'sand they were on the drivers side in the trunk behind a plastic panel(ford may have relocated them since), and i ran into this problem with them. I learned the hard way, the first time it happened to me I went and bought another taurus and started stripping the first one for parts, when a friend showed me that switch, I pushed it a lo and behold the darn thing started. I was mad and happy at the same time.
