under the hood on both sides of the headlamp is a white tab that needs to be pulled up on both sides to allow the assembly to come out then just twist the bulb from behind and pull it out. it will have 2 tabs for each side headlamp assembly.

How do you remove outer lens

If you are referring to the headlamp, there is a procedure in the owner manual for replacing the bulb.
If you did not get an owners manual with your truck ( purchased used ), you can download one from Ford :

This is the procedure for the New Body style 2004 MY F-150

If you have a 2004 Heritage or Lightning model ( same body as the 97-03 MY F-150s ) this is the procedure

If you are talking about removing the lens from the headlamp housing, this requires removing the set screws in the lamp housing, and heating the lamp up in the oven or with a heat gun. It can warp the unit if you heat it too much, this is just to get the sealant to release. Might be best buying a replacement lamp housing on one of the auction sites, or Ford F-150 sites if this is the case.

How do you remove the head lamp assembly on a 1993

1. Make sure headlamp is off and open hood.
2. Taurus model years 1990-1999: you must remove the whole headlamp to replace the bulb. Not a horrible task. Just annoying.
3. Facing the driver's side headlamp, and looking at the headlamp itself, at clock positions 8, 11 and 1 are the headlight housing screws. They all look the same. Using a 10mm socket wrench, remove these 3 screws and set them aside.
4. Just to the right of the "11 o'clock" housing screw is a bolt (same hexagonal 10mm sized top as the housing screws). This just needs a few turns to loosen it.
5. Gently pull the whole headlight forward. Now you can get at the bulb.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb. Now the headlamp is free to work with. Remove the bulb, replace with a new bulb, make sure the bulb housing cylinder is in place and reconnect the electical.
7. Place headlamp back into position. Line up screw holes. Tighten the bolt. Replace housing screws and tighten.
8. Passenger side headlamp is mirror image of driver's side. Screws at 11, 1 and 4 o'clock positions. Bolt should be to the left of the "1 o'clock" housing screw.

Replace brakelight in trunk of 300m

NOTE: Some moisture accumulation inside a vented headlamp unit is normal. Moisture will vent from tubes or vents located on the back of the unit. This normal condition will appear as a fogging on the inside of the headlamp lens (similar to the fog that sometimes appears on the inside of the windshield). This moisture may be removed by activating the headlamps on high beam for 15 minutes.

If water droplets larger than 1 mm in size have accumulated on the inside of the headlamp lens, the headlamp unit should be replaced.

Release hood latch and open hood.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative remote cable.
Remove the one bolt retaining the washer bottle filler neck and move aside.
Remove the two bolts retaining the speed control servo and move aside.
Remove fasteners to upper radiator crossmember:
Two jack screws on each side.
Three crossmember retaining bolts on each side.
Three push pin fasteners across top of grille.
Gently pry back grille and remove the two bolts to front crossmember. This will allow you to move the crossmember forward, pivoting at the radiator grille, to access the headlamp unit.
NOTE: Once the crossmember is loose, take care not to scratch the fenders.

Maneuver the headlamp unit to remove from behind fascia. Gentle prying of fascia may be needed to clear it enough to remove the headlamp unit.
Disconnect the lamp connectors and transfer lamps if replacing unit.
Release hood latch and open hood.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove jackscrews attaching headlamp to body (Headlamp Housing – Intrepid).
Remove headlamp from body.
Disconnect wire connector from headlamp and parking, side marker, and turn signal lamps.
Remove headlamp housing from vehicle
