Find a fuse for fule pump gray wire at tank pictail no power it all muut have a fuse blown but?????mistry fuse hiding thak you ted

    I have power at the pump execpt the blue wire and the white and black striped line. I have Contunty to the fuse box on the blue wire but bot the black

    but not the white and black strip line I am not sure what that line is. maybe a ground

Hi ted , the grey wire at the fuel pump goes to the fuel pump relay , and the relay gets its power from the ECM B fuse 20 amps , located in the underhood fuse relay center , when you tested for power , how did you do the test ? a test light at the grey wire while someone was cranking the motor ? i'm looking for a fix ya vote , so if finding your fuse doesn't solve your problem comment back before voting and i will help you , thanks .

I have no fuel pressure where do i start to find the problem


Okay, hey, the fuel pump circuit. With key on, the pump should turn on for about two seconds to put pressure in the line and in the fuel rail on the engine, where the fuel injectors are. When the engine is cranking, the pump is turned on again by the vcm (Vehicle Control Module-the engine computer) signaling the fuel pump relay, just as it did with key on. After the engine is running, the pump is kept on, usually by the oil pressure switch.
No fuel pressure? Then the pump is not turning on, or the fuel filter is completely blocked-which is rare.


You can start at the Underhood Fuse Block. Here is found the fuel pump relay and the fuse for the pump. The fuse is designated ECM-B Fuse and it's 20 amp. If the fuse is good, put your finger on the fuel pump relay. Now have a helper turn the key to on, not start. If the circuit is good to this point, you should feel movement- a slight click. If you feel nothing, and the fuse is good, then the VCM is not sending a signal to the relay OR there is a wiring problem from one side of the relay to ground. If no click or movement under your finger-you will need professional help to diagnose further-checking of the signal from VCM and/or checking the ground wire for that side of the relay.
If you definitely feel a click at the pump relay, and the fuse is good, the power to the pump is sent out from there on a gray wire. Get under the vehicle at the rear and find the electrical connector for the gas tank, and pull it apart. Now you need a test light or voltmeter to check for power on the gray wire in the connector. You might miss the two second signal with key on, so have your helper hold the key in start. While the engine is cranking, the gray wire should have power-battery voltage. If it does not, big problem: possibly a broken wire or short from pump relay to there at the gas tank.

If the gray wire has power with engine cranking, you're almost home: Either the pump has definitely failed OR the ground for the fuel pump is bad. The ground wire is black and it shares the same ground point as your rear exterior lights, so if the lights work, the ground can be assumed to be good also for the fuel pump. And then you need a new fuel pump. But check the gas tank connector carefully for any sign of corrosion, loose terminals, anything like that amiss. Not likely, but check anyway-you don't want to put in a new pump and then find a loose connection! Good luck.

Will not start but if i put alittle gas in carbator it will start till fuel is gone. fule pump? fuse? relay?how do i check? 1994 gmc 2500 350 motor


you should be able to hear the pump run inside the fuel tank. on the firewall there is a relay under the black cover on the passengers side, thats the fuel pump relay. the ORANGE wire should have 12V, The wire going to the pump is GRAY and should have power when cranking. . theres also a 20 amp fuse there, make sure its good. If the gray wire has power, most likely the pump is bad. At the pump there is a BLACK wire that attaches to the frame near the left rear wheel, thats the ground for the pump make sure its good and tight.

No power on fuel pump in buick century 93, i changed the relay & fuse is ok, that always happen after the car became hot ,next day it wont start


If the fuse and relay is good, and there is power AT the pump, then the pump is bad. Fuel pump power goes through the oil pressure switch but only after engine is running. So there should be power to the pump for approx 2 seconds when you turn key on. There is a RED wire (prime, it will be a single wire poking out near relay) at the fuel pump relay, if you put 12V on that wire the pump should run, IF the wires and pump is good. The GRAY wire powers the pump.

1993 Nissan Pathfinder fuel-pump not getting power despite changing fuses. Problem has happened before & mechanic who repaired that said he just changed fuses & that solved the problem. Please help


If it is blowing fuses, it has not been 'fixed'-the fuel pump is drawing more current than the circuit was designed to handle, pointing to two possiblilties, either a fault in the wiring harness to the pump, or the pump itself is drawing too much current duo to wear possibly overheating due to running the tank low-gas 'cools' the fuel pump so running a tank low is often fatal to a fuel pump, especially an older one. You might try switching the fuel pump relay with one that is not used as much (like an ABS or horn relay) to see if it makes any difference, but you probably will need to plan a fuel pump replacement in the near future.

My car want get any fule iput a new fule pump still no fule istraight wired it and got fule but no fire is there a sensor that would cause it to loose power to the fulepump and cause it not to get fire


Check out your fuel pump main relay and fuse. Often the relay that controls the main fuel pump is also the one the supplies voltage to the coils.

We are looking for a wiring problem with the fule tanks there is no juice to the fule pumps


There will be a fuel pump relay , and maybe even a fuse.
I am not sure where on your F250 , but most likley in a fuse/relay panel in the engine compartment.
Exact location should be easy to find on line.

you say you replaced the fuse, but does the fuse have power? the gray wire at pump should have power when cranking, or for 2 seconds when turning key on. At fuel pump relay, put power onto gray wire, the pump should run if the wiring is good. if it doenst run then ck for power at fuse while power is on gray wire.

If you do not have power on the GRAY wire at the fuel pump.........
switch the fuel relay with a same type good relay in the relay box and check for power again.
REMEMBER ...YOU WILL ONLY HAVE POWER 2 OR 3 SECONDS AT PUMP AFTER KEY IS TURNED TO RUN POSITION......after key has been off for 10 seconds.(or when there is oil pressure)
If no power in the gray wire at this point and you have checked ALL fuses in engine compartment and on right (pass ) side of dash panel facing pass door.......add your own jumper to supply power to system at fuel pump fuse and test again.........if power at pump now....install a permanent jumper (SWITCHED POWER....OFF WITH KEY) at fuse box......if still no power check all connections between fuse box and pump.....or run new power feed wire to pump gray wire and disconnect old.
