Question about 2003 Ford Escape

Open Question

03 escape AWD operating procedure?

I test drove a 2003 Escape Limited with 92000 miles. I was instructed to put the car in neutral, turn the switch from auto to AWD to test the AWD system. I could tell it engaged, but the loud "cluck" noise when it engaged is worrisome to me. 1. Is this noise typical and nothing to worry about? 2. Is it standard procedure to put the car in neutral to change from 2WD to AWD? Thanks.

Won't start how ? When your the key to the start position what happens ? The engine spins but won't start an run . this a crank no start condition . If nothing happens when you turn the key to start ,this is a no crank no start condition . Need to be clear on this so we know what to have check . If nothing happens when turning the key to start position ,try moving gear selector to neutral - park neutral safety switch . If when you turn the key to start an the engine does spin but doesn't start an run ,check for spark ,fuel pressure . see what's missing .

2002 ford escape "missing"

The first step in diagnosing a problem like this is to have the powertrain control module (PCM) scanned for fault codes, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, you do the test from the diagnostic port under the dash on the drivers side. Also check and verify fuel pressure is in spec. Any local parts store like Autozone or Oreilly can do this test for free.

Flipped my 2003 escape onto its passenger side got it back on its wheels drove it away parked then put gas in it and then tired to start it and wont now whats goin on ???

hi.

you may have tripped the fuel pump safety switch. it cuts power to the fuel pump in an accident.

it is normally found behind a cover on the side of the passengers side footwell (possible drivers side on left hand drive). just press the button in to reset it.

if this does not work, you may have to take it to the dealers for them to reset any other safety devices that may have operated.

My 2003 Ford Escape had a bad crank shaft sensor which, would cause it to stall out, mainly when the engine was hot. It often would not start after I turned off after a long drive. Once the engine was cool it would re-start. The replacement sensor was a bit differennt then the original. The original appeared to be mostly plastic, while the new one was metal. Ford must have know they had a problem part.

My '03 escape will not engage in drive or reverse. When you put it into drive or reverse it just revs the engine.

run a transmission diagnostics with a respectable scanner, this transmissions are electronic, maybe one of the servos are defective.
