SOURCE: holden VN Commodore 91 automatic not reversing!!!!!

is it an auto or manual? if its auto the selector band may be too loose or gone completely, check fluid levels and make sure they are good as that can cause it to play up, a service may help free it of clogged and cluttered debree.

VX commodore engine mounts how to install

V6 release handbrake, select neutral, preferably rear wheels of ground & remove oil filter. You need an almost 90 degree multi splined ring spanner cut and welded to a 1/2 inch drive 6 inch extention bar. This is to undo the top two nuts retaining mount to engine the other two nuts a nomal socket will undo.Be sure when undoing top retaining nuts the spanner remains flat on nut at all times if it continues to slip it may round off the head of the nut. Once all nuts are removed you have to jack up the engine a soft block needs to be used on side of engine sump only raise just enough to remove and refit mount DO one side at a time. Great care is required when raising engine if it appears to stop moving when rasing do not go any further this is when i advise it to be done by a Holden garage as you do not want to crack the sump. For saftey reasons this particular job i would avise a garage to undertake. I can't stress enough that a novice or inexperienced apprentice should "not" attempt to do this job unsupervised by a Qualified Mechanic. All safety precausions should be taken ie vehicle should be adequately supported at all times. Hands may be requierd to be manoverd in areas of danger to remove and install mounts make sure if something does slip you have a wedge in place to safegaurd yourself. Nomaly the nut size is 15mm But early vehicles may have 14mm confim what size they are by putting a socket on one of the lower nuts.

Upper right side shock mount broken

If the surrounding steel is not rusted away than it can be welded back in place. If rusted or the mounting points are bad you may have to cut one out of a junk yarder and install. Good luck.
